  • I think Fore Street wears on me over the years. It's good, but no real culinary surprises. Love the open kitchen and the local sourcing, but there are better options now in Portland with more creative...  more »
  • Birthday surprise dinner. Staff was very helpful. Food is above the norm. Definitely not "fast food". A little eclectic, very well prepared in the open kitchen. It is pricy and really not kid friendly...  more »
  • I should begin by disclosing that I once participated in a cooking lesson led by Fore Street's presiding genius, Sam Hayward, and have always been very impressed with his passion for, freshness, quali...  more »

  • Well the hostesses left something to be desired but the rest of the experience and the food were Amazing! The servers and the food were to die for. I think the vegetarian ravioli is the best meal I have ever had! The wine was good and even without the kid friendly atmosphere (no highchair, and no booth because they were reserved for people of 5 or 6 people) the food was totally worth it!
  • We enjoyed the delicious Wood Grilled Natural Hanger Steak in a pleasant rustic ambiance at Fore Street. The red brick walls, old wood, and metal in the building’s interior certainly added to the charm of the restaurant. The mood lighting helped quite a bit, this place looks beautiful at night. The kitchen is completely exposed to the open dining area offering patrons an interesting vista during the entire dining experience. This is a great spot for a dinner date.
  • The food at this restaurant was amazing. My wife had the roasted chicken and I had the steak. I think that was the best steak I ever had, stealing the #1 slot from the peter Luger Steakhouse in Brooklyn. We did try the signature Chocolate Souffle Cake even though we were full from the main course and we did not regret it. The only negative that I can think of is that it was a little too dark and we could barely see our food but, i think it was just the table that we were seated at. Great casual atmosphere overall. Would highly recommend it.
  • One of the greatest restaurants I've ever been to. My wife planned a whole trip to Portland just to introduce me to this place. The menu was perhaps the most imaginative I've ever seen, and the execution was perfect. The staff was very friendly, the ambiance was terrific. This was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. If you are in the area and have the opportunity to dine here, DO NOT MISS IT.
  • This place started the restaurant movement in Portland and is the standard that all others are measured against and strive for. Reservations are hard to get in the summer but the bar is first come first serve and offers full menu. Off season you can get seated most weeknights without a reservation.
