Tradition Field, Port Saint Lucie

(4.4/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Tradition Field is a baseball stadium located in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The stadium was built in time for the 1988 season and holds 7,160 people. It is the Spring training home of the New York Mets, as well as the home to the St. Lucie Mets Class A team and the Gulf Coast Mets Rookie League team.Naming rightsThomas J. White, the person for whom the stadium was originally named, was a real estate developer from St. Louis, Missouri who worked with sportswriter Jack Champion on the successful campaign to bring the Mets to Port St. Lucie. He was the master developer who gave birth to the town of St. Lucie West. In 2004 the Mets changed the name of the venue to Tradition Field. On March 23, 2010, during a Mets spring training game against the Atlanta Braves, it was announced that effective immediately the stadium would be renamed Digital Domain Park, as a result of a multi-year partnership between the Mets and Digital Domain. At the end of the 2012 season, the Mets announced that Digital Domain would no longer own the naming rights to the ballpark. The stadium is temporarily renamed Mets Stadium until further notice. On February 7, 2013, the Mets struck a deal with Tradition Florida. The ballpark will once again be called Tradition Field, the park's name from 2004-2009.ImprovementsThe Stadium featured several new amenities in 2012. The rightfield bleacher was replaced with 500 field-level seats, highlighted by an outdoor bar and grill similar to the third base-side Tiki Bar. The rightfield section was also connected to the outfield grass berm area for easy access throughout the facility. The scoreboard was upgraded to include a larger screen featuring replay highlights in HD.

  • Tradition Field is the home for spring training of the NY Mets. This is a nice cozy stadium with great seats, sidelines, and up close and personal with the players. They cook up some great Hot dogs and have a nice selection of beverages. This is a great place to take the family and enjoy the sun and baseball.
  • The place has a large baseball field and has great foods from potato chips to Nathaniels French Fries. Though they dont exchange foods (say you bought a food from there and want to trade it for something the same price) its still a amazing place. A very large parking lot so it is hard to not have a spot. The 1 bad thing i would be worried about is security. There isnt a bag checker or metal detector, so thats the only thing they need to improve.
  • Nice field and good seats for the price. However the parking lot is a mess, not clear guidelines to assist with parking near the gate your going to need to enter through that night. Awesome people let me bring in my twin boys high chairs for use during the game, however they charged me for them to have there own seats, even though under one is free, but the rule is they have to sit on the parents lap. During spring training I'd understand the need for that...but 3/4's of the stadium was empty for the St Lucie Mets, so you'd of thought the ticket sales person could have cut me some slack... Also during non major games the concession workers are not there to serve you, they are too busy playing around with their phones and each other rather than get you a coke and move you along... The music was not really good, we figured an off night with the St Lucie Mets at least meant our kids could have a great time dancing, but they played twenty seconds of a song followed by silence... We'll wait a while before going to another game for all the hassle of it all...and the pay off not being great.
  • This is a great place to see the Minor League Mets play. Tons of fun if you're into baseball.
  • Really enjoy visiting this ballpark when in Florida visiting family. Seats are comfy and close to the field, plenty of shade or sun, depending on what you prefer. We rented the Sky Box on our last outing, despite only giving the staff about two days notice. They accommodated our party very well.
