  • Nice place, not busy and covered in people like Panama City. We rented a condo and stayed a week. The only drawback, if it matters to anyone, is that you do have to make a good drive for most restaura...  read more »

  • I don't mind "rustic", what I do mind is cleanliness. The furniture is soiled and unclean. The ceiling fan in the living room is whopped and makes irritating noises. There are no ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Don't bring more than 4 people - you won't have enough silverware. Went to get one of the dogs balls that had rolled under the couch and pulled out a wad of black hair :-/ It looked like I drug my hand through a fire pit - it was filthy. Tub hasn't been scrubbed in I don't know how long. Friday, before we were to leave on Sunday the AC started making a lot of noise. My husband said a bearing was going out. We called the owners; said they'd fix it when we left to take the boat out the next day. Came back Saturday afternoon - it had not been fixed - the noise came and went -- AC went out at 5:00 am Sunday morning - texted the owner and of course no response. When we checked out her response was, " I'm sorry". We spent $150 a night to stay in this place - DON'T STAY HERE, but if after reading my post you still decide to, bring tons of OFF - the mosquitoes will carry you off.
  • Very disappointed in our recent 4 night stay. Not sure which cottage the other reviews stayed in but cottage 2 is not clean! Not a good place for kids. The floors, furniture, walls, rooms, refrigerator, dishes, etc were all dirty. We used the bed linens to cover the furniture to be able to sit down. My kids were not able to play on the floor due to all the nasty pet stains. There was hair all inside the refrigerator. There was mold and mildew on the ceilings and refrigerator. Honestly I do not know how they continue to rent this unit. It smelled horrible. If we could have found another place to stay we would have. We had to buy dishes, pots/pans to use and thank goodness we brought our own linens. We had 3 pets and enjoy a pet friendly environment but this place needs cleaned up badly. The grill was dirty and rusty and the stairs need pressure washing to get the slime off before someone really gets hurt. I slipped down all of them. You shouldn't have to pay over $500 to stay somewhere that you still have to buy cleaning supplies to clean it, dishes to cook in it, and not get to choose the cottage you want to stay in in the first place. The only good thing was the boardwalk to the beach and bay. Will never stay here again and will not recommend it to anyone.
  • Had a wonderful time staying at Whispering Pines! The location is so peaceful and the owners are genuine and very wonderful people. We spent Thanksgiving here and we couldn't have been happier. My 5-year old had a blast collecting sea shells and sloshing around in the flats looking for critters to watch. We were not disappointed. You would think that anyone who doesn't live at the beach is always amazed at being at the beach.... well, we live at the beach (a couple hours away) and were still excited to see all Port St. Joe/ San Blas has to offer. Where you stay has a lot to do with your relaxation level and Whispering Pines set the stage for a great R & R trip. Thanks so much and we will be back!
  • Like going back in time 30 years. Great staff. We checked in in the evening and they let us check out in the evening so we still got our full time! Cottages are very spacious.
  • The cabin was spacious, inexpensive, the beach was beautiful, hardly saw Dave or Kim unless we needed something and they were very accommodating. Wouls stay here again. Already have reservations for '09. Great for families and for folks who like lotsa' beach and sun. Bring the Rum.
