  • Some people don't seem to appreciate the historical aspect, and too many folks look for a lot of noisy whiz-bang stuff - which this place doesn't have. The park is very historic, especially when combi...  more »
  • Stopped at the park on our way to the ferry. It was peaceful and quiet with beautiful views of the gulf and boat traffic. I do wish there were more details available to explain exactly what we were lo...  more »
  • This was an interesting stop while just out exploring. The grounds are well kept, but unfortunately the historic buildings are in just awful condition. History from pre-civil war up through WW II can ...  more »

  • Such an interesting and historic site, just a short ride off Galveston Island proper. The ferry was well managed and you can get out of your car and watch this historic attraction grow closer. The park itself offers areas for bar-b-q and picnic, as well as play areas, historic markers and a real authentic feeling on antiquity. This is also an excellent place to catch the sunset across the back-bay of Galveston.
  • Views are gorgeous and grounds are fairly maintained. Maps that say where you are/What you are looking seemed a bit off. Lots of damage by vandals to different areas.
  • I've gone to this location since I was a kid to fish it's a very beautiful location there's rest areas there's places to spend with your family take your pets restrooms and you get to see a little bit of history and if you like to fish hey you can fish off the Gulf War off the side is like a little baby right before the the bridge in the ferry so it's just a nice place to go
  • Fun piece of history. No displays as such, but great views of ship coming in and out. Swings for the kids. Hike around the water. BRING mosquito repellent - they are always bad here.
  • Very, very interesting. Wish it were better preserved. Wonderful scenic walk about. So interesting to read about all of the different lives that the facility has had. The mosquitoes were no fun and they were thick. Even insect repellent won't help in the restrooms where there are hordes of them.
