  • Its beautiful here. The waves are so fun and the sound and feel of the wind was PERFECT. Nice clean beach, cant wait to go back for another getaway. Super cool shells and oysters too. Watch out for the crab dancing at night. They are everywhere.
  • We visited about two months after Harvey. The beach is clean, the water is clear, the waves are gentle and playful. I think I might have found a new favorite Texas beach!
  • Whether you fish or go for a run you won't be disappointed. Beautiful and clean. Find a spot under the pier grab some shade and people watch!
  • Great place to jump out of a plane
  • Definitely the highlight of our vacation! As it was 4th of July weekend, I thought the beach would be insanely busy and crowded, but it wasn't! Be sure and get a parking pass ($12 for the year) before going to avoid a parking ticket. You can get one at any Stripes/Valero in Port A. The beach was clean! It was staffed with lifeguards! They use the color coded flag system to advise swimmers of the water conditions! The beach had fine, soft sand that got into everything, but was easy on our feet. It's extremely windy so we put the beach blanket, etc. back in the car. As it was a short walk from the car to the water we figured we could run back if needed. The water was clean and clear although there were a lot of waves. One of the days we visited, it was low tide so you could walk out at least a 1/2 mile before you were getting hit by a wave around your knees. On that day we saw a lot of fish, a sting ray (small), and a sea turtle (fairly small compared to an adult sea turtle). It was awesome. I highly recommend visiting Port A beach! We will be back for sure. Tips: 1. Wear sunblock. It sun feels intense as there's no shade. 2. Bring a beach umbrella of you're going to lounge. 3. Watch your kids. There is often times a rip tide and big waves that can knock them over. 4. Watch for wild life... there's a lot. 5. Don't forget your beach parking pass. (There are a lot of beach access roads where you can find parking as well without paying the fee. The $12 fee was worth the convenience for us.)
