  • The black ball ferry is a historic link from Victoria to our neighbours in the south, port Angeles. They offer a fairly uneventful trip across the ocean to whichever destination you are going to aboard the MV Coho, a 1959-era ferry with decor to match. It has a old diner in the stern, reminiscent of the era in which it was built, it is a quite worn ship, and often rocks with the waves, so get to the front and watch the sea if you get seasick.
  • We took the Port Angeles to Victoria Ferry, great service, friendly staff, no issues. We DID NOT make a reservation, but arrived 1-1.5 hours early. You need to arrive about ~1hr early for the US -> Canada crossing and about 1-1.5hrs early for the Canada -> US crossing. Without a reservation might want to arrive another 30-45mins before that to make sure you have a spot. Reservations are ~$16 extra (and made online), and to be honest during the peak summer season are likely a good idea.
  • The ship is clean and well maintained. The staff seem much happier than those at the other ferry service.
  • Very comfortable trip, gorgeous viewa of the olympics and Mt Baker. Cafeteria on board plus you can enjoy a nice beer or a glass 9f wine.
  • They are very efficient. The people are very nice. It was an enjoyable experience.
