  • It’s the ferry. You must take it if you want to go to Victoria and return to Port Angeles. They know what they are doing and getting your car on and off is quite rapid. We had our dogs with us and the...  more »
  • I booked the Black Ball Ferry in advance to take us to Victoria BC. They were efficient in checking us in and loading onto the boat. Packed like sardines in there but that is to be expected. Once on d...  more »

  • I've been riding this ferry almost since she was put online over 50 years ago. It's a great way to get to Washington without dealing with I-5, especially for those who live or visit on the West side of Puget Sound. It's cheaper than the BC ferries, takes 1.5 hrs for the crossing (which, admittedly, can sometimes be a rocky crossing due to weather or the wake off frequent large ship traffic), but once you land, it's pretty light traffic, quick access to the Olympic National Park and Port Townsend areas, the adorable Norwegian town of Poulsbo, the amazing lavender festival in mid-July, and several good casinos, if that's what you want. and a much quicker access to the Washington coastal communities.
  • Took the black ball ferry to Victoria from Port Angeles, WA. It was a really good trip with good seas.. We really didn't take much advantage of the concessions, but I did notice the had a rather good selection. We just had coffee. It was good.
  • I love taking this ferry! I take it about once a month to go visit Victoria. I love how dependable it is and the crew is very nice. Going to Victoria is always a blast, but taking this ferry makes it so much more awesome! I recommend it to anyone with plans to visit BC.
  • This ferry is a lot slower than the Seattle-Bainbridge line. The staff are friendly and professional. My only disappointment is the scheduled time: only 8:20am & 2:00pm are available. I wish there were more options but Port Angeles is a small city & there may not be enough passengers. I took the latter to Victoria and had a great time...munching on fish & chips.
  • Great inexpensive way to get to Victoria. Booth seating is limited on the boat so I recommend getting there at least an hour early to wait in line. Great duty free shop with cheap booze and smokes on the boat too.
