State Park
Ponca State Park is a state park of Nebraska, USA, situated among the high bluffs and forested steep hills along the banks of the Missouri River. It is located 2mi north of Ponca in northeastern Nebraska. The park is adjacent to the Missouri National Recreational River. Originally created in 1934 from 200acre of donated land, Ponca State Park and the town of Ponca itself are named after the Ponca tribe, who inhabited the area before European settlement, and whose chief, Standing Bear, won a celebrated court battle to have the Indian declared a "person" under U.S. law.

  • Great place to go camping whether it in a tent or camper. Many activities to participate in some free some at a very low cost. Friendly atmosphere. Camp hosts great addition.
  • Beautifully kept grounds, fun trails, and nice facilities all nestled into a gorgeous landscape along the Missouri River. Even just driving through the park is an experience in itself!
  • Scenic views, variety of camping options, many of outdoor activities. Hiking paths were well planned. Not many steep climbs. I especially enjoyed the 3d archery range.
  • This is a beautiful park. I spent 2 night in the campground and wish I had stayed another night. Plenty of shade, nice visitors center and museum. The down side is it's a large park and you need a vehicle to get around to see anything. Friendly staff.
  • Great Views. Good paved trails for hikers. Can drive throughout the park.
