  • PPG Paints Arena is the formerly named Consol Energy Center. It is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Pittsburgh that is the home to the Pittsburgh Penguins. I have been here for Penguins games, and more recently, Disney on Ice. I will focus on the more recent Disney visit for my review. We were there for the 7 pm Saturday night show, and access through security was very quick, easy, and they were very nice. I suggest not taking any bulky bags that take time to search. The facility is clean and signs to guide you to your seat are clearly marked. As adults who went without kids, we did want to have an alcoholic beverage, but they were difficult to locate. We found one snack stand selling beer in Penguins cups for $10 a cup. I realize since it was a children's show, alcohol would not be in abundance. I took one star off the review because the bathrooms are not clearly marked in every location. I am someone who does not like to be stuck in traffic. Therefore, I traveled from the South Hills (Library station) to Steel Plaza station (closest T station to PPG Paints arena) and walked the remaining distance (about 10 minutes). It is a very easy mostly level walk from the train station. PPG Paints arena is one of my more favorite venues due to its proximity to mass transit, cleanliness, and ease of access through security.
  • Went to a Penguins game. Was surprised by the wide variety of food options, some good, others less so. Great beer selection with the some good, regional choices. Nice, clean arena. All the employees are very helpful and friendly.
  • Good stadium/arena for sports games, concerts, and other large functions. It sits a lot of people, and I usually get a pretty good spot with a good view even though I'm never close to the stage. The food prices are very high, so you should eat before you go to CONSOL or bring at least $10 per person to buy food. The facilities are usually clean. There are many entrances/exits. I usually take the Centre Ave entrance/exit next to the Cambria Suites since most people don't use that.
  • Home of the best hockey team in the league! The Pittsburgh Penguins! Great selection of foods and beer. Expensive, but pretty par for the course as far as event pricing goes. On many bus lines, so come on down to enjoy a game. Parking is plenty fully on street side or the nearby lots.
  • My husband and sons went to the monster jam on 2-11-17, I called before going up there so they would know how much cash to bring. I asked what the cost of parking was, the lady said let me take a look. She said depending on what lot you park in the cost is 4.50-6.50 and a little more for the garage. I said okay so we are looking between 6.50 (because I figured the 4.50 would be full before they got there) to maybe $20 if they had to park in the garage she said yes. They went up everywhere they wanted to park was $20 including the lots. When they was leaving the price was changed back to 6.50. The show it self was awful, we went to one 2 years ago and it was great, they did racing, flipping, turbo car, t-rex monster truck that crushed cars in its mouth, and so much more. This year they did nothing like that. It was a total disappointment. would not recommend anyone wasting there money.
