  • We rent a mountain cabin just east of the Davidson River location. This is the space where The Hub was located, before they built their new, bigger place across the street. Davidson River has oudoor c...  read more »
  • While vacationing in Brevard, my husband and I wanted to give fly fishing a try. Our guide, Than, was terrific! We learned a lot, caught 5 trout between us and can't wait to go out again next week. Hi...  read more »

  • My husband and I have been camping at Davidson River Campground for years and have frequented the DRO shop more times than I can count. We stopped in for everything from just information to purchasing flies, t-shirts, unguided trips, boots, waders and guided trips. Cool group of knowledgable local people. Shop has a good selection of items given that it's not a big box store. Highly recommended, especially for a guided trip!
  • I was out in beautiful Brevard with my dog today. He needed a break and water so I stop at a well worn pull off by a state road bridge. Figured I'd wet a line. Granted, there was a no trespassing sign maybe 50 yards from the bridge but isn't it state property next to the road?. I'm literally there 15 minutes and leaving as a not so nice lady informs me that I'm not supposed to be there she has called the police and I need to stay put till they get there. So I stay. I asked the not so nice lady where can I fish without hurting anyone's feelings. She said "the forest". I explained to the not so nice lady that I was from out of town and I thought state roads had an easement within however many feet which is not private land at that point. The not so nice lady shook her lovely head " nope". Sheriff Dept shows up, the not so nice lady wants to press charges, I get ticketed. Turns out the not so nice lady is affiliated with Davidson River Outfitters! So... Now I get to miss a day of work, go to court, pay fine and court cost, be humiliated. Thanks DRO! Know this: the river doesn't belong to you or anyone else, you can actually talk to people without looking down your nose, im going to let everyone i can know what a fine business you run into the ground and I am extremely disappointed in visiting what was once a home to me. That will be the only two cents you will ever get from me!
  • Great team. Always helpful.
  • Friendly and helpful. Good selection of tying materials. Decent pricing.
  • I have spent alot of money in this establishment over the years, but this fall I went in to by an inexpensive pair of polarized sunglasses and a day later the hinge broke. I went in to ask for an exchange just to see if they would work with me on a replacement pair (exchange or discount mind you). The attitude I recieved from the young bald fellow was just disgraceful. I should have known I would not get anywhere with him. However this is not the first time I have had a poor attitude in this place. Well I will take the extra time to go to Headwaters Outfitters in Rosman from now on. Because of a $24 pair of glasses this place is losing out on my money in the future. Poor service, poor attitudes!
