Pine Mountain State Resort Park, Pineville

(3.9/5 based on 80+ reviews on the web)
Pine Mountain State Resort Park is a Kentucky state park located in Bell County, Kentucky, United States. The park opened in 1924 as Kentucky's first state park. Each spring, the park hosts the annual Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival, as it has since 1933.HistoryWhen Pine Mountain State Resort Park was established in 1926, it was named Cumberland State Park. But the name was changed in 1938 in order to avoid confusion with the newly formed Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. During the park's early years, there was little development. Then in 1933 the Civilian Conservation Corps began constructing the main office building, cabins, roads, bridges, shelters, and hiking trails. In 1960s, the Kentucky State Park System began updating their parks. For Pine Mountain State Park, they constructed a new wing to the lodge that contained 30 more guest rooms, 10 additional cottages, swimming pool, and golf course. Today, the park serves as one of southeastern Kentucky's premier state parks.

  • The lodge is wonderful. Just plan to spend your money on food some where else. Breakfast is very, very, basic and the buffet was cold. No hot foods. The selection was ok, but the quality was very bad....  more »

  • Great views and overlooks throughout the park. Park itself is very well kept and the staff at the lodge is very friendly and willing to help accommodate customers the best they can.
  • Rooms were comfortable and newly remodeled. Staff was very helpful. Trails for hiking were marked and cleared.
  • Wow need I say more, but I will this place is absolutely amazing a must see for sure I'm so glad we did
  • This is my favorite Ky SRP. An amazing, well preserved CCC lodge and older cabins. The trails below the lodge into the rhododendrons is very special. Also the trails to the falls or Chain Rock. I really like the older cabins...but be ready to sleep with mice and bugs that come with the experience. The new lodge rooms and cabins are fine. And the dining hall with a view down the valley and the bird feeder...incredible ! go and enjoy
  • Very disappointed...bathroom fan and heater didn't work, faucet leaked, cable tv not working, locked out of rooms because of updates, internet service came & went, mini golf course too full of leaves to play, no light in elevator, just a couple of lanterns, no buffet, most meals were served cold, waitresses not familiar with side options, lady at check in desk more interested in eating her dish of shrimp to check us in, not very friendly and when we checked out, still not friendly.
