The President James K. Polk State Historic Site is located on 22 of the original 150 acres owned by Samuel Polk. It was on that land in 1795 that the 11th U.S. President James K. Polk was born. The Polk Family lived on the land until 1806, moving when James was 11 to the Duck River Valley in Tennessee.To visit President James K. The site now consists of a visitor center, with a self-guided museum and film. Tours of the historic area, including reconstructed log cabin and separate kitchen, are available A nature trail and picnic area are also located on site.
