  • We spent the morning fishing for white bass. We caught and nice batch, which were all a good size. We will be going back again! Nice clean lake.  more »

  • The parks were so clean and beautiful, the employees were great and helpful. Our campsites were spacious and easy to park our trailer. Just be careful with reservations because there's TWO deferent parks and entrances. It makes a huge difference if you want to be closer to certain places. Also there's no park store at either site, and the closest store to the Johnson site is at least 30 minutes away.
  • Spent a weekend camping at the Du Bois unit. Park bathrooms are so clean! Good control of vegetation; didn't have any problems with bugs or critters. Nice lake, good trees, easy to get to. We had a lovely time. Definitely hope to return!!
  • The rangers and staff after very friendly. The new reading with a ranger program is fantastic, as are all their programs. Park is beautiful and well maintained. I've camed there dozens of times with no negative experiences. Definitely check it out.
  • Such a beautiful and clean park! Loved the hiking trails...was well kept and marked clearly. Definitely coming back in the summer to swim at the "beach" there and enjoy their beautiful campsites
  • This is a wonderful place to camp or to just spend the day if you don't mind paying to use the park, as there is a daily access fee and an overnight camping fee. There is sandy beach access right next to the lake and the water is as clear as it can be for a man made Texas Lake. The staff do an excellent job of keeping trash cleaned up and bathroom/showers are always working. The beach recreation area has a ton of open space with both covered and open picnic tables. Wide paved trails run through at the park and are great for walks or young riders on training wheels. Scenic outlooks with informational displays are scattered along the paved trails. There is also a decent network of MTB trails that are well maintained, these are your typical tight trails with a lot of switch backs and turning back the direction you just came. The network has a few different sections of varying difficulty so beginner and experienced riders should be able to have fun. As far as camping goes, there are sites that can accommodate RVs trailers or whatever you have. There are also walk in sites for tents that are close to the water. Each camping area has a central facility for bathrooms and showers.
