  • Ranger Rick is the bomb. Visit the interpretive center to feel animal pelts, pick up a scavenger hunt, and earn a Junior Ranger Badge. So good!  more »

  • Great place to take the family for the day or go camping. The beach wasn't crowded on the second Sunday of June but it looked very clean and enjoyable. There's a children's playground and volleyball nerds and plenty of picnic tables and grills. Plenty of bathroom facilities. We will be back.
  • Excellent location. we had a great weekend trip. A good place to enjoy with your family on a weekend. Neat and spacious beach. Park has lot of picnic tables and grill stands. best of my choice so far.
  • Having visited both the Johnson and Isle Du Bois branches of this state park I can say that both are great! The camp sites are partially developed, with picnic table and lantern hooks available at most making them perfect for a weekend camp-out. They even have firewood vending machines in case you forget to bring your own. The rangers are friendly and helpful and their weekend activities are great for the kids.
  • Been coming here for more than 10 years on an extremely frequent basis due to the close location. Just follow the rules and yer good. (Alcohol not publicly displayed, noise after hours, etc etc) The police doing their rounds don't harass you like I've seen in other Texas parks. It's nice to see they have body cameras now days. The park has clean facilities and is maintained pretty well. No trash along the lakeshore as you will find in Huntsville. It is best to arrive on Thursdays or early am Fridays to get the spot you like the most. My only reason for not putting 5 stars is that it needs to be less expensive for a weekend in the woods.
  • Visited for the 1st time, we just moved to Texas from Hawaii. We are missing the ocean, but this is the closest we will get. Had a great time with family for Memorial Day! There is an entrance fee that we did not know about, but its worth it.
