  • We stopped on a lark - so worth it! Just keep driving up towards it - you'll pass several lots but there's a lot right underneath the rock. Easy path up and I'm not a good trail climber. View through ...  more »
  • This is a fun nature area that you can walk or hike. Lots of great views. You can make it a cautious or more daring trip depending on the path (or not) you choose. Several people brought dogs. Very cl...  more »

  • Loved it. Take the short stroll up the back side of the hill to see the view from this iconic Arizona natural landmark. Its free! Quick if you want or long if you want to hike or bike the area. There is also a nice oasis just off to one side and the zoo is within a minute from here. Definitely don't miss out
  • Fun little stop right outside the zoo! We stopped here because we saw all the people standing in the hole. We decided to climb to the peak, it is a somewhat steep, although short, climb and I don't recommend climbing it to the top unless you have on shoes that grip(mine were not the best, but I made it very carefully), and appropriate clothes, I at least had on jeans which work well enough, but ripped the butt coming down, oh well. Coming down was trickier than going up, which is why good sites is important, if you choose to go all the way to the top, I recommend getting off the rock on the backside, I did the front and it was a little steep if you're a novice climber, which most of the people I met were since it isn't that much of a climb to begin with. It had a great view and I recommend going all the way to the top peak, carefully, if you are not afraid of heights and are physically able to free climb up that high comfortably. There were pent of foothold, but again, be careful if you're a novice. God Bless ~Amy
  • Came to Phoenix on a whim and honestly cannot recall a more beautiful sunset than here. At least that I've seen personally. Just something about spending hours here or even minutes with a bunch of strangers enjoying the view in silence is amazing. The rock itself is great for families and kids, however, climbing up higher would be left for the adults in my opinion. Definitely a site to check out, especially since it's free so why not?!
  • There are a lot of boulders in Arizona that are fun to climb, but this one allowed everyone to participate. We even saw a dog up there! Nice view of down below. A little busy, but still fun.
  • Not too hard of a hike up, i took my friend's daughter a 5 year old and my chihuahua. They are usually cry babies for no good reason, lol, however they both made it and i didn't have to carry either one of them. We easily reached the top where the hole is. I got a bit overwhelmed by the view and the fact that so many others placed their hands in the same place mine were at that moment. Wow. It is worth checking out for sure.
