Only serves ever, but many local micro breweries to choose from. Gonk Amber ale and otter water were favourites. Only drawbacks were no snack food and little seating. more »

While this is a small town local brewing company, there was nothing special about it. Service was ok, no water and no ice for soda. The beer was ok, but more a local hangout than someplace a tourist w... more »

Friendly staff and friendly atmosphere. Several different types of beer you can try. This place definitely brings in the crowd. Another must-see in the town of Phillipsburg.

I recently headed back to the picturesque old mining town of Philipsburg, MT, USA, to visit a friend who owns an Inn there. It was my first time there in 17 years, and somewhere in the interim, Philipsburg Brewery was born. Good thing, too! I was only in town for a couple of days so by no means could I sample everything on their rotating list of considerable offerings. For a small-town operation, they maintain a large, diverse tap list. I recall loving the Tramway Rye PA, one of their two saisons, and the Otter Water. The gal behind the bar was a local and previously owned the bar across the street, so knew pretty much everyone in town. Brewing is done on premises (I enjoyed the sweet mash aroma the whole time) and off-site at an historic brewery on the outskirts of town. The place is located in a former pioneer bank building (the town was founded in 1867 and has been a mining town of some sort or another all through booms and busts since then, so pretty much all the buildings are "pioneer" stock) and the PB merchandise store is in the former bank vault. They had just come back from competition in Denver's Great American Beer Festival, where they had taken a bronze with their 5 Phantoms Pumpkin Barley Wine entry. Guess what they were OUT of!! Oh, well...next time...and it won't be another 17 years! (Note the place is cash only with an ATM on premises.)

A great little brewery in the downtown strip of historic Philipsburg, MT. Beer was great and the staff was very friendly!

My wife and I are on a journey to visit every Brewery in Montana. We have been to around 95% of them so far and still find the Philipsburg brewery to be our favorite. For as small as it is, they have live music, great bartenders, and more important delicious beer! Out of all the breweries I've been to this is one of the few I can actually drink most of their beers. Most places I choose one or two I like but Philipsburg is a handful. It is hands-down our favorite brewery in the state. I only wish they took card, it is the 21st century and I don't always have enough cash on hand and their ATM in the back doesn't always work.
