University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia

(4.6/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Tour University of Pennsylvania to see the largest of the Ivy League universities and arguably the oldest university in the United States. The school combines an intimate charm with plenty of opportunities for exploring. Founded by Benjamin Franklin, the campus boasts one of the world's best archaeology museums--a testament to its leadership in that field in the 19th and 20th centuries. Catch a football or basketball game if the season's right, tour the auditorium to see its incredible interior design, take in the campus architecture, or stop at the performing arts venue. Though in the heart of the city, the university retains a countryside feel, with many walking trails and a botanical garden. All the same, the urban setting offers convenient proximity to transportation and restaurants. • So much to see here on this sprawling campus. Some grand old buildings (the Furness Library is my favorite), new functional ones, tree-lined pedestrian streets, places to eat. Ivy League in the city.  more »

  • Great university in the heart of Philadelphia. My daughter went there for undergraduate studies and we used to go there all the time to visit her! Lovely campus but I wouldn't venture out beyond in the night time!
