University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia

4.5
#37 of 204 in Things to do in Philadelphia
Tour University of Pennsylvania to see the largest of the Ivy League universities and arguably the oldest university in the United States. The school combines an intimate charm with plenty of opportunities for exploring. Founded by Benjamin Franklin, the campus boasts one of the world's best archaeology museums--a testament to its leadership in that field in the 19th and 20th centuries. Catch a football or basketball game if the season's right, tour the auditorium to see its incredible interior design, take in the campus architecture, or stop at the performing arts venue. Though in the heart of the city, the university retains a countryside feel, with many walking trails and a botanical garden. All the same, the urban setting offers convenient proximity to transportation and restaurants. Accompanying his son who begins a PhD at the UPenn we can enjoy the life of this University, thanks to our experience of the universities of Naples and Rome. Easy to say that's a whole other world; from the campus (with embedded squirrels!), services provided (take a step to the Bookstore), the presence of a health orientation visits organized by Universities, from Amazon, the ethnicity of the student population. If you're in Philly let us a ride, you will not regret it

The campus is part of the city and the city is part of the campus. Kinda like Greenwich village and NYU, but this one is much bigger. I liked it a lot. Vibrant, city life, college life all in one. Def...  more »

Very nice campus. Filled with well designed buildings and is filled with art. Although I do not go to UPenn, I have been here numerous times, and the atmosphere is wonderful.

I am in the ER with my father for 3 1/2 hours now,he is suffering terrible from cancer and urinary retention, the manager comes out to talk to to her friend who has asked for her who is here with a family member. I had asked how much longer, he is suffering. Her friend was called back Who was here less than 1 hour. The Politics here sucks, my Dad wants to leave and go somewhere else. The only reason I am staying is because of his doctor an2 we are hoping to still get chemo today.
