Experience the City of Brotherly Love's central plaza, Love Park, nicknamed for its famous sculpture. This park, which is officially known as John F. Kennedy Plaza, is most recognized as the site of Robert Indiana's iconic Love statue. The park was built in 1965, but Indiana's sculpture was added in 1976 in celebration of the United States' bicentennial. It became a permanent fixture of the park in 1978 and has since become a symbol of the city. The park sits near City Hall and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among other tourist attractions. Take time to walk through the city center, take a photo with the Love sculpture, and pass by the Love Fountain, which is dyed various colors throughout the year to commemorate different events. Make Love Park a centerpiece of your Philadelphia vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Philadelphia trip builder.

  • This is an ideal picture taking spot so go early to avoid people in your shot or long waits to take a picture,  more »
  • Its under construction so there is nothing to see except a large dirt field. Hope the statue comes back so others can get a pic under the love sign in the city of brotherly love.  more »
  • The park is under construction and the love sculpture packed away. Oh well. I walked around instead.  more »

  • we will miss you love park R.I.P
  • Currently closed for renovation. Find the sign diagonally across at Dilworth Park (right by the City Hall).
  • So touristy but a definite must go in Philadelphia. Great sign for people to take your picture. Just use caution who you ask to take your photo as there have been instances of people running off with the camera.
  • Going to Love Park, Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19102 was nice on a walk around center city Philly. Quite a few locals trying to ask you to pay them to take your photo with your camera. Not ideal if you ask me I declined.
  • Quite touristy, but touristy for a reason. A must for any visitors to Philadelphia.

Where to stay in Philadelphia

Most of Philadelphia's hotels cluster around the compact city center, ensuring quick and easy access to major tourist sights and activities. The only drawback to staying in this area is the lack of free parking, so if you're exploring by car, considering booking into a bed and breakfast in one of the city's residential blocks. Visitors planning on longer stays can also consider several apartment hotels, offering spacious furnished units with complimentary Wi-Fi, free bike rentals, and access to rooftop terraces.
