  • Went on a whim today....hubs got discounted admission as he's a vet...so it cost just $12 for the 2 of us. There were only a handful of folks on site, which I enjoyed. We started with the tour guide, ...  more »

  • Check the hours before you go. This is a wonderful history lesson with very friendly staff. Admission is charged. They do a lot of events like Scouts, but also corporate events. Watching and hearing the cannon going off is great. You can rent the facility overnight with a group and it's frequently booked so you need to plan in advance.
  • The place looked awesome...from afar. We got there 20 minutes before closing, so I understand we wouldn't be able to see a whole lot, but the man staffing the office didn't even give us a smile, much less an option to see anything at all. He was very cold and uninterested in giving us any information outside of that closing was in 20 minutes. Very disappointing to visitors all the way from Connecticut. Maybe next time we visit with more time, I can offer a better review.
  • This is a great place to host a renaissance festival. Make sure to wear waterproof shoes. It's called "Mud Island" for a reason.
  • I didn't get a guided tour. But this is a great place to explore on your own and have a picnic. Just be aware it is near the airport and depending on wind direction, you might have a lot of planes overhead.
  • This is a great historic place. The buildings are from colonial times and from the early days of our nation. It's tucked away behind the airport, but seems centuries away.
