  • A great excursion for a Swedish family. We learned a lot about the Swedes who emigrated to Philadelphia. There are a lot of diaries which are conservation as one can read from and get some insight into what it was like to be a emigrrant. Great fortunes to read about. A room for the children with Pippi Longstocking. A few hours, it is clearly worth it.

  • Before you visit the Museum should have read on if the Swedes who formed a colony in the area in the 1600 's. That way you get more out of his visit. The Museum also presents some other Swedes who made history, such as Selma Lagerlöf, Jenny Lind, John Ericson and others. A playroom with Pippi Longstocking-theme is available for small children. We lacked, however, the contemporary image of Sweden. Nothing about today's music export, company or sports stars are featured. Despite the fact that it is a historical museum, it may be interesting for non Swedes visiting the place to find out that H&M, IKEA, Absolut vodka, and ABBA may be associated with Sweden. Such simple everyday things that almost all Americans know they don't have a clue what Sweden is. Fully stocked souvenir shop with Swedish stuff, and the Swedish children's books translated into English is available. It takes probably less than an hour to go through everything. If you don't have young children who play in Pippi-room. We were almost the only visitors there. All the info is in English, and no one in Swedish. It is also a little sorry. If you are passing on a rainy day you can visit the Museum, but there is absolutely no one should feel that you should do (just because you're American). So interesting is not it. Parking is available right outside at the back. If there is any arrangement on the sports arena nearby is said to the officials that stands at the entrance and takes charge for parking are available at the Museum. Then you get a free ticket.
