  • I literally gasped when we saw the Badlands, what a magical site, every step is worth a photo, we felt we were in the moon, so unique and extraordinary. DON'T MISS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • It's a 3.5 mile drive on a paved road off the main trail, & it's a must see. The rock formations & colors are otherworldly. Lots of photo opportunities.
  • Yes, the rise is very tiring in the heat, but the effort is worthwhile anyway. The views all on its own, because such a hike is too much the most visitors and they settle for a photo from the vantage point.

  • Blue Mesa is a vista point and trail head. The vista point overlooks the slate blue rock formations that gives the mesa it's name. The elevation of the vista point allows for views across a large swath of the north end of the Park. The trail that leads down into the 'badlands' is a 1 mile (1.6 km) paved loop that drops down 100' (30 m) and twists among the blue rock formations. While the trail is well-paved, it is not recommended for wheelchairs due to the steep grades during the descent and ascent into and out of the badlands. There are no facilities at this site. An interpretive sign provides more information about the area. A covered bench provides respite from the sun for party members who do not wish to descend the trail. RVs may be able to park at the trail head if there are few cars.
  • Fantastic views. The bike ride up the hill is worth it.
  • Beautiful trails and its a pretty easy walk so most people shouldn't have a problem.
  • Very nice trail. Not so crowded and not too long
