The Lagunitas Brewing Company is a brewery founded in 1993 in Lagunitas, California, The company is half-owned by Heineken International. The brewery is known for iconoclastic interpretations of traditional beer styles, and irreverent descriptive text and stories on its packaging. The company was the fifth top selling craft brewery in the US in 2014.HistoryThe brewery was founded in 1993 by Tony Magee in Lagunitas, California and moved a year later to nearby Petaluma, California when they quickly outgrew their original rural West Marin location.Since the mid-2000s, Lagunitas has been one of the fastest-growing craft breweries in the United States, increasing from 27,000 barrels in 2004 to 106,000 barrels in 2010. In March of 2011, the company had 92 employees with distribution in 32 states. The brewery announced a $9.5 million expansion slated to begin early 2012 which increased its brewing capacity to 600,000 barrels. On April 9, 2012, Lagunitas announced plans for a new Chicago-based brewery equipped with a 250 barrel brew house which will also have a 600,000 barrel capacity. In May 2012 it was announced that owner Tony Magee had signed a lease for a location in the city's Douglas Park neighborhood in North Lawndale, "that will put him in a space owned by film studio Cinespace...for at least 20 years." The Chicago brewery started producing beer on April 18, 2014, and opened an on-premises taproom a few months thereafter. A third brewery is being built in Azusa CA to be in full production by spring of 2017. This brewery will have an ultimate productive brewing capacity of 1,900,000 barrels.

  • Arrived just in time for the 5 o'clock tour after a long day of hiking. The tour was free and very informative but we had the 5:00 Sunday tour - sadly no beer tasting. So by the end of the tour, we we...  read more »
  • Great beer and food, but the blasting of Pink Floyd over the loudspeaker was WAY TOO much. It wouldn't be a problem if they played something else. Made me hate pink floyd before we finished our first ...  read more »
  • Friendly servers, plenty of seating, music in the background, and dog friendly -- what more can one ask for? oh yes, lots of beers! (check!) Lagunitas is a great place to hang out on a sunny day just relaxing and enjoying a good time with your friends. Hubs and I got the "around the world" which is 4oz pours of 16 different beers. I highly recommend this tasting for any beer lovers out there. We also got the pork nachos which was a really large portion. I wish that I lived closer so that I could visit more often.
  • This is one of my favorite breweries! Everything they come out with is amazing. Beers are cheap (about $5 each) and the food is delicious. They usually have live bands and if it's nice and sunny, there's a grassy area perfect for napping. It can get pretty crowded, though, and finding a seat can be very difficult with a large group (it's seat yourself). But the trouble is definitely worth it once you find a table. Staff is friendly and they're always willing to make a recommendation on beer or food (I recommend their large pretzel and Undercover Investigation Shut-down).
  • You can never go wrong with a beer from Lagunitas Brewing Company. Their brewery is awesome. There's an inside bar with seating inside & outside. They also serve food which is delicious, my favorite is their Smoked Brisket Sandwich. I've only gone on the weekends & they always have a band playing with is very cool. I suggest that you get here early because this place is popular & gets packed quick.
  • This place is great! Cool outside area to hang, listen to live music, and drink beer. They have a nice menu of bar food, as well. Staff is everywhere to help you, and service is relatively quick. Prices for beer and food aren't bad at all. The beer menu has lots to choose from, including some rarer selections. Grab a selected taster for $1 cheaper than your own, customized taster - 4 beers in each flight. Thursdays after 4:20 PM has a firkin selection, so keep your eyes open for that. There is a great place to shop for Lagunitas swag, with some cool clothing choices. Overall, this isn't a fancy place, but it has their beer, good staff, and makes itself a cool places to hang out.
  • One of my favorite breweries! Chill atmosphere with live music and of course, great beer. It's usually packed so enjoy the scene and snatch a table when you can (you may have to wait long). The gift shop has great items and the food is wonderful and everything you'd want from a company like Lagunitas. Growlers are cheap too!
