  • This place is such a gem - it far exceeded my expectations. The park ranger at the museum was so nice to us. He let us borrow their binoculars to check out an osprey nest not far away. This started my...  more »
  • Decided to start new year by taking kids out for walk and look around. Nice little area, great place for apicnic and play in the water. Nice park.
  • First off it's a place of real history, when Naval ships were built from wood, this Live Oak Reserve was established, so there's some neat exhibits in the Visitor's Center and a cool display on the di...  more »

  • This is a beautiful place to walk around near Pensacola Beach. If you walk down the boardwalk, there is another Trail off the boardwalk that goes to an enchanting place in the forest that is like a dome made by the live oak trees. There is also an observation platform in that same area.
  • Wife and I traveled from PCB to obtain a senior pass for our upcoming trip to Grand Canyon. No one in visitors center. Knocked on doors, a wh fem 50 ish ranger came out ready to battle. After I told her That NPS website said I could get the pass here. She said I didn't read that. They stopped issuing passes over a year ago. I good her that was not what the NPS listing said. She said I didn't read that. Told her I wasn't going to argue with her and left. I WILL NOT BE BACK.
  • Nice walk along the Santa Rosa Sound in the beautiful Live Oaks ! Lots of picnic tables & beach area . Must go to visitors center to learn why & how this grove of Live Oaks existed ! Learn about local wildlife & see a few if you look carefully!
  • I had my engagement photos taken here. Absolutely stunning.
  • The Naval Live Oaks Nature Preserve which is part of the National Park Service is located on both sides of Highway 98. There is a Visitor Center with exhibits, restrooms and a book store. There are several trails you can hike, but leashed dogs are only allowed in certain areas. I enjoyed a nice hike on the Breckenridge Trail which starts near the Visitor Center and in one spot comes out along the Santa Rosa Sound near the bridge to Pensacola Beach. There were exhibit signs displayed along the trail that educated about plants and wildlife. The Breckenridge Trail is partly in a forest type environment and is shaded, but not all of it. My advice is to go early in the day and take water with you as it can get rather warm later in the day. You don't have the benefit of the ocean breezes on the sound.
