  • We have been going to Grass Valley, on to Nevada City to the South Fork of the Yuba River since I was 17. I have taught all my children how to swim there. I used to camp in a sand bar a half mile from...  read more »
  • If you really want to see the water you have to park off the road and hike down the walls of the river to get all the way down. Not a lot of water so not worth risking my life for it.
  • Cool clean water! Great to cool off on a hot day. Easy to get to the river (although you might have to wade across it to get a spot to sit).
  • Perfect day hike area with such varied terrain. There's the river and the... river. I mean the river is super cool. breath taking views and you can shimmy down the shore for a dip!
  • Clear water cool rocks seen the penn valley fire dept airlift a man with a broken leg out of there. Had a great time but its very popular there were alot of people there.
  • Its scenery is amazing and the river water feels great on the skin on boiling hot days. Hands and pans gold panning is also allowed here to add to the fun times.
  • I love to come here and spend the day with my family. There is plenty of space to swim up and down the river and there is one spot where you can get close to a small rapid. There is not much of a beach here so be prepared for a rocky shore.
  • I've only gone to swim, not hike. It can get crowded as the beach like area is small, however it is great for families. There is shallow wading as well as deeper areas you can jump in. Expect limited parking, a short hike and crowded beach area. A lot of people bring beach tents for shade, which I would recommend
