  • The place is a nice Sunday drive but not nearly what I was hoping for. It has lots of produce but not all local. Pretty much grocery store stuff. It is a nice place to take kids for an afternoon and a...  more »

  • We have stopped here in the fall for years to celebrate the end of "good weather season" with some fresh food; usually grilled corn and apple cider. In this case my teenaged son and I stopped on a fal...  more »

  • Bring a backpack if you're riding the canal, cause you'll want to stop here!! Stopped in while biking the canal, just to see what they had. Gosh are we happy we did, it doesn't get much better than this. Fresh corn, apples of all varieties, plenty of veggie choices, homemade breads etc., and my personal favorite, tomatoes! Usually, I'm leery of most tomatoes because many are hothouse grown and not worth eating. However, these babies were PERFECT. Beautifully red, great flavor, and huge! Had several awesome BLTs thanks to Szalay's and we're going back before leaving town to stock up. YUMMY!
  • Good if you have kids and just want to buy your pumpkin and be done with it. Everyone else: save yourselves the trip. The corn maze is a disappointment for anyone over the age of 7, and the pumpkins are piled up on a bunch of trailers, so you can't enjoy walking around in a field in search for the perfect pumpkin. It's hyper-industrialized and just not what I was looking for. That said, the two singers who were there absolutely rocked.
  • We went to Szalay's on a Sunday and everyone was there. It was super crowded and it was hard to shop. However- with that being said, all of the produce I did purchase has been great. It was slightly overpriced, but tastes great. Also, NO CREDIT CARDS. They do have an atm, but keep in mind when you visit it is cash and check only. I do recommend getting their sweet corn from the food stand- it was great! Their lemonade was good- not too sweet. Will be back.
  • Great hot dogs and corn on the cobb, great place to stop after bike ride ohio and erie towpath trail
  • 4 Stars... lost one for reasons below... OK, I grew up less than two miles from here - so I remember the old days before this became an attraction... CORN - First and foremost - the reason you should come here - is always great. Produce - good quality - but they should really denote what they grew and what they resell. To some of us it makes a difference (in that I want to try their ....). Carnival like stands... Interesting - fruit, custard, corn... My only complaint is they should be grilling the corn over wood or charcoal - then I could get on board (and likely stay way too long and eat way too much)... Like a farmer I once new said - if you pick the corn and sprint with it to the grill - then its fresh... If you trip - its old corn... Crowd / Parking / Bathrooms - to me its a shame this has become a park attraction - but that 's just because I was used to the old szalays. Bathroom - uses the fancy outhouse of the park a little walk away.
