  • First off I wish I could give a higher star rating! I'm not usually one to write a review, but my most recent experience here this past weekend was above and beyond! This was my family's first time back in about a year. We used to frequent St. Julian and were avid Wine Club members, unfortunately our past experiences were subpar and caused us to not only cancel our membership, but stop coming all together. My parents had flown in from overseas and decided that they would like to take a drive on the Michigan Wine Trail. They also decided that we had to make St. Julian a destination on our list. The recent reviews had done a complete 180 and it sounded like management and staff had been changed around so we thought to give it another shot. Let me say that we were extremely glad we did! We had a group of 6; my husband and I, my parents, and our 2 young children. Upon entering we were greeted right away by a young man named Ben. He asked what brought us in and if we were interested in a tasting. We told him that we were interested in a tasting as well as a tour if they had any going out. He brought us up to the counter and proceeded to explain the tasting process and checked our IDs. He then put out menus and went over them explaining how they were laid out and what some of the more popular options seemed to be. We got to choose 6 wines from the extensive menu and my father/husband even got to add a few spirits to the tasting. Each taste had about an ounce pour and I felt that it was definitely worth the $7.00 a piece! The wines were absolutely delicious as always, hands down the best in the state! My parents had a ton of questions and Ben was very knowledgeable when it came to the wines. He steered us in the right direction and gave great recommendations. Over the years we have been to plenty of wineries all over the country. My husband and I have had well over 100 consultants serve us and he was by far the best! Our normal 20 minute tasting turned into a bit over an hour as we had extensive conversations with him. He even indulged my father in his war stories lol. He was also great with our children! Our 2 youngest were with us and we're getting irritated about halfway through the tasting. Ben took it upon himself to play along and serve them non-alcoholic sparkling juices and they felt very involved for the rest of the tasting. After our tasting we were able to start our tour. We were lucky enough to get Ben as our tour guide as well! We had 13 people total in the tour group and it lasted about 40 minutes including the 10 minute video at the beginning. It consisted of the entire building including; warehouse, grape press, cellars, distillery, storage, and bottling line. I have been on a tour of almost every winery in the state and various across the country as well. This was one of the most in depth tours I have ever had the privilege of being on and by far the best St. Julian has ever offered! Lots of people had questions and they received all the answers. Again he was EXTREMELY knowledgeable from the wine to the bottling line and we spent 10 plus minutes at each tour stop. He definitely loaded us with knowledge! Overall I was very happy with the experience. Ben and the staff were so; knowledgeable, friendly, experienced, and truly focused on customer service. I was so pleased that he not only sold us on 3 cases of wine but also on reactivating our Wine Club membership at the top tier of 6 bottles. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a tasting/tour at St. Julian Winery and make sure to ask for Ben! He's the young man with the adorable "man bun" lol. They have truly turned themselves around and we will most definitely be returning again!
  • Great wines! Our hostess Denise was wonderful. We had a great time, enjoyed some wines we don't usually see from St Julian. Definitely recommend a visit here.
  • Stop in for a winery tour and a tasting. St. Julians is hard to miss.
  • THE Michigan winery...period. Been to tastings at 10+ Michigan wineries and St. Julian's in Paw Paw is BY FAR the best: great selection (44 different wines PLUS spirits!); amazing, knowledgeable staff; incredible prices...just can't say enough. If you're going to Michigan wine country, DO NOT miss this place. I'll be in the area 9/22 thru 9/25 and will be stopping in for another tasting (my 3rd, I think)...and purchases, of course!
  • St. Julian Winery is a true Michigan wonder. The winery is comprised of many things, a fantastic ambiance, superb service and some of the best wine I’ve ever tasted. My wife and a few friends made the journey to St. Julian from metro-Detroit and it was one of the most worthwhile trips we’ve ever taken. We were greeted with smiling faces from every employee and were immediately asked if we needed any assistance. We then took an extremely informative and fun tour throughout the facility and learned about Michigan’s oldest winery. To finish the tour, we participated in a wine tasting at the St. Julian bar. Our tour guide and server Jonathon was extremely knowledgeable regarding all things St. Julian. He let us know about the wineries facility, history and different wine/spirits. The manager Tammy, also made sure our experience was unforgettable. We walked away with a case of mixed wine and will be returning to the winery as soon as possible.
