  • Shale Oak is a winery designed around sustainable-not only in the productions of their wines but the building themselves. Our server was also the artist in residence and provided information on the philosophy, building and wines. We had an enjoyable time tasting the wines and learning more about the winery.
  • The most beautiful tasting room I've visited. Complex, balanced wines from top to bottom of the tasting list. We decided to join the wine club halfway through the tasting; the quality was obvious.
  • I was a member for a number of years. These folks make delicious wine, and they mostly ironed out the delivery problems they used to have with their wine club shipments. It's worth a visit as their wines are reasonably priced, and the location us very attractive.
  • The awesome patio and design of the tasting room is what sets this winery apart from others in the central coast area. Panels of colored glass rise high on both sides of the building when you enter giving the feel of a contemporary styled church dedicated to wine. The two tiered patio makes this the perfect winery to visit on a cool spring day, and it also appears to be dog friendly. The wines are moderately priced and of the ones I tried were quite flavorful. The staff was very efficient and professional and did a great job accommodating our large group.
  • Good wines. Staff was not totally helpful. I like the building, but I really need to come back and see how I like it when there isn't a tour bus load of people there!
