  • Visited with 2 young kids who are train mad and they loved the short train ride and looking around some of the old trains and the model railway.  more »
  • Had a fun time out with the family. The staff and volunteers who run the trains were very friendly and helpful, and everyone enjoyed the experience.  more »
  • Great ride very informative and especially during the holidays when decorated for Christmas. They have special events during the year which is always fun to attend.  more »

  • I've been here for Thomas the Train Day before and that was a complete mob scene. The kids enjoy it but you'll empty your wallet out, especially if you have multiple kids. Off season, after all the snowbirds leave Florida, kids ride free with paying adults on certain days. They also have an old 1940s passenger train on display to walk through across from the souvenir train. There are a few other trains to look at from the outside Its pretty quiet and no one hassles you. Free to look!
  • The place is great for onetime visit. We want on a hot day and the next train was over an hour wait. The only seating area are outside. Unless you want to wait in the shop/office which does not have seats. The train ride is quite and entertaining for kids. But very boring for adults. They need to have some music inside the train. Over all not bad if you don't have anything to do and have kids and trying to make them busy and entertained for few hours
  • Cool little model train set up that's fun to watch. Gift shop with some good stuff. Train brought us to a mini museum, takes about a minute to go through and back on the train. The train itself is a neat experience. Not all that exciting, more of a relaxing thing to do.
  • Great museum; have gone the last 4 years they've hosted Thomas the Train and colleagues talk very highly about the Polar Express during the Holidays. Haven't been any other time, but the experience has been great. Plenty of grass-top parking with Manatee County Sheriff's more the helpful at directing vehicle and foot traffic. Staff is friendly and helpful.
  • We had a great evening on the "hobo campfire" ride. Very affordable, and the kids loved it. This event is a twice-a-year ride from the museum up to a property by an Florida Power and Light facility near Sun City Center. A whole bunch of campfires were set up, and already burning nicely! When we got off the train, we were greeted by a lady with a table full of "hobo bags" - handkerchiefs wrapping up your dinner, which consisted of marshmallows, a hot dog and bun, and condiments for the hot dog. An "old country" band was playing old tunes, and the whole thing was a wonderful way to spend a chilly winter night in Florida!
