The Outlets at Bergen Town Center is a shopping center located in Bergen County, New Jersey, USA. The center consists of both an indoor mall and exterior outlying stores and occupies over 105 acres split between the municipalities of Paramus and Maywood. The center, which was built as the Bergen Mall, opened in 1957 as one of several regional large-scale outdoor shopping centers rolled out nationwide, and was the largest of its kind at the time of its opening. It is the second-oldest mall in New Jersey. The mall offers a gross leasable area (GLA) of 917129sqft. The mall is located at the junction of Route 4 and Forest Avenue, and includes a separate shopping strip, south of Route 4 connected to the rest of the property via a pedestrian bridge. The mall has over the years included community spaces, including a chapel, theater for live dramas, post office, auditorium, ice rink, bowling alley and a children's amusement ride area, and is the current location of the Bergen County Museum. The Bergen Mall was designed by John Graham of New York City. The mall is subject to Bergen County's blue laws, which requires the mall to be closed on Sundays.HistoryThe mall was first planned in 1955 by Allied Stores to have 100 stores and 8,600 parking spaces in a 1.5 million ft2 mall that would include a 300000sqft Stern's store and two other 150000sqft department stores as part of the initial design. Allied's chairman B. Earl Puckett announced The Bergen Mall as the largest of ten proposed centers, stating that there were 25 cities that could support such centers and that no more than 50 malls of this type would be built nationwide. The mall opened on November 14, 1957 with great fanfare, as Dave Garroway, host of The Today Show served as master of ceremonies. Bergen Mall got its second anchor when a 135000sqft Ohrbach's location opened on August 17, 1967.

  • Would have rated it 5 stars except finding a parking spot is always a challenge. The mall itself is great and has a lot of nice interesting shops as well as a few outlet stores. I enjoy the hot food section of Whole Foods and its ample sized dining area on the east end of the mall. On the west end of the mall is a Target which serves as the other anchor store. The mall currently (Mar 2018) is undergoing a major renovation and expansion. Also, a new Best Buy (relocating from Garden State Plaza) is currently being constructed in the strip of shops across from Best Buy. That strip houses Kirkland's, Red Robin and REI and, soon to be completed, Best Buy. It's connected to the main shopping mall by a car/pedestrian bridge over Forest Avenue..
  • Much better than the old Bergen Mall (if your old enough to remember that place). Decent parking and food options. Most the outlets have good sales so you don't leave empty handed. Try Bobby Flays Burger joint and Pot Belly across the parking lot. Pot Belly is really a must.. Whole Foods is your typical store nothing special about that location. If your a guy looking for reasonably priced cloths hit up Century 21.
  • Very nicely remodeled mall. Now it's a high end shopping center with many stores catering to higher class clientele. I recommend this mall very highly! It's reputation has risen sharply ever since the remodel. It rivals the Garden State Plaza and is by far better than the failing Paramus Park shopping center!! I highly recommend shopping here if you're looking for a great experience!
  • It's a spacious outlet. with some nice stores; We always go there on the weekends. It takes time to find parking on Saturdays. The outlets are closed on Sunday, except for Whole Foods and couple of other stores. I like this place, it's convenient and not too crowded.
  • Decent place to shop with a wide variety of shops across all brand types... right from clothing to art to electronic gadgets. Not to mention food as well. There is ample parking here and it's quite big if you have to walk around but good exercise. It's good to come with friends and families here. Enjoy
