  • Agri-tourism is increasingly popular on the Big Island and the tour at Onomea Tea Company sets the bar very high indeed. Rob and Mike strive to make the tour an educational experience appealing to the sight, smell, and taste. Rob starts with a tour of the farm providing tremendously interesting information about tea, how tea is grown and how they process tea. All of which shows their true passion for tea and more importantly passing that passion to customers through their very high quality tea. Mike then takes over the tasting part in which goes through a flight of teas from green to oolong to black to fermented black teas explaining both the taste and nutritional qualities of each including how they transform through each pouring. The scones were also to die for. A wonderful ritual that gives all a much greater appreciation of the tea and their passion in producing it. A truly awesome experience. Adding to the experience is a sublime setting of Onomea bay with a view of the Botanical Garden (another must in the area) with beautiful rows of tea surrounding their very unique and pristine house which doubles as their production facility. Even if you can't experience it in person I can highly recommend all of their teas (although the Oolong and Fermented Black are my favorites). NOTE: The have certified organic tea!
