3.7
#3 of 7 in Zoos & Aquariums in Florida Panhandle
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
See an array of creatures from around the world, including a number of rare and endangered inhabitants, at the non-profit ZooWorld Zoological Conservatory. Wander the zoo's garden grounds, arranged around a lake, and keep your eyes peeled for fan favorites like the jaguar, Bengal tiger, and kangaroo, along with lesser-known animals like the siamang, spectacled bear, kinkajou, and more. For an even closer encounter with the animal residents, try signing up for a personal meeting with the zoo's lemurs, where you can hold the furry critters in your own hands. Alternatively, you can opt for hand-feeding leaves to a giraffe. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Panama City Beach holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the ZooWorld Zoological Conservatory and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • ZooWorld is an old style zoo that houses its animals in small cages or small pens. If you are used to seeing animals in habitat enclosures, viewing animals in relatively small, concrete floored cages ...  more »

  • This is an awesome place to come see in Panama City Beach! Animals are well taken care of and healthy and the facility is professionally maintained with care. A variety of animals here to see, as well as a petting zoo. We had a great time getting up close and personal with the giraffes. You get to feed all the colorful birds in the enclosure and if you stay still enough, they might just hop on your hand. Overall awesome experience! Worth making the trip to. :)
  • I don't understand the reviewers with bad experiences here. Our family, including my 10 month old loved this zoo. Animals were active and habitats were clean. Many of the habitats were larger than some at larger zoos I've been to. You could really get close to the animals here unlike at large zoos, and most of the animals were curious towards the visitors. All of the zoo staff were friendly and look like they enjoyed their jobs. Pathways were perfectly fine, even with a stroller. Everything was clean. We will definitely return on our next visit!
  • Very clean, with nice enclosures for the animals. There's a feed deal where you get food for giraffes, birds, and for the petting zoo for $10. Great deal. Staff are always around to answer questions. You can also pay more to have one on one time with lemurs, giraffes, and kangaroos. I've done all three, and they were great. Very patient and helpful staff.
  • Someone needs to investigate this facility IMMEDIATELY!! I felt very sorry for the animals. The monkeys, tigers and lions hadn't had any fresh water and it was noon when I arrived. There cages hadn't been cleaned in days....The tigers and lions had no area to really run or roam. Shouldn't they have more area and live in better conditions than 20 x 40 cages that were NOTHING BUT MUD. I mean zoo world is making money!! The animals looked like they were miserable, and the white lion was in distress panting the entire hour and a half we were there. It's sad... they don't appear to care about the animals just the money they make on them.
  • Best zoo I've been to. Most zoos are massive with tons of less than engaging animals. Here, alligators could be fed, sloths that could be touched, and Lemurs you could hold. Staff was friendly and grounds were well kept. Not your normal small town zoo.

Where to stay in Panama City Beach

As a popular vacation destination, Panama City Beach has an abundance of accommodations. A beachfront hotel room or condo is the perfect base for a tranquil luxury vacation. Rooms with a balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico are in high demand. However, resorts and properties close to the shore are often expensive, and those on a budget should consider a motel farther from the beach.
