  • The preserve has a range of environments from wet to dry with a range of trails. You can do a pleasant walk or a hearty trail. The price is perfect at free.
  • We have done cerious hikes here over the last few years and have always enjoyed them. The hike to the oasis is a fairly easy hike which can be done with young children.
  • Very interesting ecosystem with knowledgeable docents and tours. Visitors' Center is rustic and small. Bring your own water --just easier that way. Can be very hot which makes a normally easy walk a t...  more »

  • A real Oasis! We were riding our bikes and decided to stop in. Super nice hosts. Very cool spot.
  • Scenic views of the surrounding desert in the drive in, followed by unique up-close views of a desert oasis. California fan palms dominate the area. Bring lots of water and sturdy shoes.
  • It's a must see. It was so kool how all of it grew together. I went when it was 110 out cause i was only there for a short time. I plan on going back when its a little cooler so i can explore more. I love it.
  • I really loved my experience here! I went out early to try to capture the stars away from the bright city lights. It was fun being out there at dusk ( the gates open at 7am ). If you go solo you'll have the companionship of many caterpillars and a diversity of insects. Walking in the open spaces reminded me of a time when I was playing Final Fantasy 12. The McCallum Oasis was very pristine. Although I didn't see any crayfish, the Aussie next to me did!
  • It has some beautiful palms and a nice trail, and it is basically free, but so is the Morongo Valley Preserve which I liked better. And of course Joshua Tree NP is the real highlight of this area, so visit this after you went there first.
