Top travel recommendation website, TripAdvisor, named Palisade in the Top 10 Wine Destinations in the U.S. in their Travelers’ Choice Awards 2012, and Meadery of the Rockies as a DON'T MISS stop.

As Colorado’s first and most beloved (or bee-loved!) meadery, Meadery of the Rockies makes an array of honey based wines, all starting with pure, raw Orange Blossom honey.

Owners Glenn and Natalie Foster have been involved in the Colorado wine industry for more than 16 years. Due to growing up and working in northern California’s wine country, Glenn is a second generation winemaker whose father, Reed Foster Sr., co-founded and operated Sonoma’s Ravenswood Winery for 30 years. This foundation, along with a leap of faith to take part in Colorado’s burgeoning wine business in the 1990s, led to a successful career in winemaking for Glenn. A passion for falconry inspired Glenn to name his company Talon Wine Brands.

Talon Wine Brands encompasses Meadery of the Rockies and sister wineries St. Kathryn Cellars and Talon Winery. Talon Wine Brands produces 40+ wines, employs 20 people in Palisade, and ships to 19 states.

  • I was recommended this place and decided to give it a shot, and boy were we impressed with their honey wines. If you love sweet wine you must visit this place and the other wineries in the area. Some ...  read more »
  • People in the tasting room were very friendly. Several choices to sample from the menu. Has a cozy feel to it with a nice gift shop area.
  • Wine made from fermented honey and water goes back into ancient history - thousands of years ago. I don't care for alcoholic drinks (though I often use wine in cooking), but I had to try it as did my ...  read more »
  • Definitely a place to check off your list of things to do in Palisade. Unique wine list (the chocolate dessert ones were my favorite), with an incredible staff.
  • Great place if you like mead...not scenic, but very good mead and tons of flavors. Let the sugar rush begin😱
  • Wonderful winery! Excellent meads. Super friendly staff. Superb tasting any day of the week!
  • Great mead (honey wine) here. The Lancelot semi-dry was my favorite and the best classic mead I've had to date. The guy who helped us was very nice and also gave us some good advice for things to do in the area. They offer tastings so if your in the area and have time I definitely recommend the stop.
  • Very friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff to help you decide. I bought an engagement gift for a friend and they happened to also bring mead from the same establishment..only we were 120 miles from where I bought it. It's good when people go that far to get some mead. Enjoy :)
