  • I was so excited to visit Hancock of Paducah. I was very disappointed after visiting this store. Traveling the United States from our home in Oregon, I wanted to visit a quilt shop in every state. With my “Quilters’ Travel Companion” as my guide, I had everyone autograph my book before I left. Paducah was going to be an overnighter only. So I was worried if we would be there before they closed. We finally made it with 30 minutes to shop. This place is huge. I was overwhelmed. It was a Quilter’s dream come true. Traveling in a 5th Wheel for 7 months doesn’t allow for a lot of buying. I only wanted to purchase a few Batiks for my traveling scrap quilt. First problem, you have to buy a minimum of one yard. I’m only buying 1/8 yard pieces. So no Batiks for me. But I did find some vintage red gingham. As I got to the checkout, I asked the older gentleman at the register if he would please sign my book. I explained, there wasn’t an ad, but the store was listed in the index. He then told me, “We are the biggest quilt shop in the world, anyone who needs a book to get themselves here, has got to be Retarded” I was so shocked I could barely speak. After he signed my book I said, “I have come all the way from Oregon. I’m stopping at quilt shops in every state, so this book has been very helpful to remind me of shops and also have addresses listed. So I guess I must be Retarded. Thank you very much.” I then continued, “We have a huge fabric store in Portland, called Fabric Depot. Definitely not as big, but they are friendly and don’t insult their customers.” I walked out. I cannot believe this old man could say such a thing. He should be ashamed of himself. His really showed what type of person he is. I will never shop online at this store again.
  • Love the store, I was there for over 3 hours and didn't see the whole store. Got in line to pay and was asked if I had a ticket, luckily no one was in front of me but there was a woman behind me and she didn't know that she needed a ticket. Hancock, you need to update your system, for the employees to write everything down you're buying is crazy.
  • My wife is a quilter and has always wanted to go to Paducah and I was thinking this was going to be a little slice of Hell however once we got there it was fabulous find and the best part of the weekend.
  • Despite what it says here and on their website they close at 3:00 on Saturdays. Arrived at 3:05 and part of our small group went in and didn't have a problem when the rest of our group came in they were firmly informed that they were closed. They allowed them in but followed us around the whole time. When we got to the check out they commented that most of their business was online, I can see why.
  • We drove an hour and a half to shop this store and it was well worth the time and effort. This was my first visit and I was stunned by the vast selection of fabrics. It seems to be highly focused on quilting fabric and supplies but there is definitely much more. I made myself concentrate on my drapery project as the sole purpose of the visit. When I needed assistance, it took about a minute to find someone to help. Although everyone was very busy, it was obvious they were there to help customers. I did not feel like an interruption in their day. I cannot recommend this store highly enough.
