  • It is well worth taking the time to visit TR's home. The house has numerous artifacts from his presidency and you are able to view most of them during a conducted tour. Depending upon the time of the ...  read more »

  • An informative review below is "great day trip". You should plan to spend some outdoor time here (a la Teddy) because the grounds are very relaxing. Short hikes, picnic lunch, plus the historical home...  read more »
  • Lovely place to learn something new or have a picnic. Hiking trails available that lead to a secluded beach area. Lots of natural flora and fauna. Pet friendly so feel free to bring your dog. Dogs are allowed on the grounds just not in the actual roosevelt house.
  • National Park Service run Summer White House of Theodore Roosevelt. We visited Hyde Park last summer, so we thought it would be worthwhile to visit Sagamore HIll. The house is in outstanding shape. You need to make reservations to see the inside of the house as all visitors must be on guided tours. Some of the information from our guide conflicted with the material in the museum (originally the home of one of TR's children, but the house is great. The grounds are well cared for, but the only disappointment is not getting the views of Long Island Sound that TR had because of the growth of trees. The house is not air-conditioned so going in the summer is problematic, and the house isn't open in the winter. The museum captures TR's life and tribulations with professionalism and clarity. All in all, a great day with friends who share a love of history.
  • The park features Teddy Roosevelts home, a museum and a small nature trail with a beautiful view of Long Island sound. The trail and museum are free, there is a charge for the guided home tour. Note that the tours are small groups and tend to sell out. No photos are permitted in the home. For seniors, you can $10 and get a pass good at all national parks. It also entitles the senior to bring up to 3 guests for no additional cost.
  • Like reliving history, very informative tour, lovely nature trail, and gorgeous grounds. Just learning about "Teddy" Roosevelt amazing life is inspiring!
  • Don't miss the beach. A nice walk on the nature trail takes you right to the beach. The museum is highly informative about the life of Theodore Roosevelt. Plan for at least a few hours and on the weekends arrive early to get a ticket for a house tour.
