One of the greatest northern Oakland county courses that doesn't get enough attention. Gorgeous layout with 27 holes, very secluded feeling on most holes, and cart paths between holes provide many opportunities for reflection. Course combines nice playability with enough challenging water carries and difficult pin placements to make it interesting. Courses were in great shape minus the traps, but signs posted indicated that they would soon be renovated. Reasonable greens fees and friendly staff. Don't let the lack of a fancy clubhouse deter you from trying this course. Money spent where it matters...on the course.
Love this course. We play Copper once or twice a week all golf season. The fairways and greens are all in good condition. The bunkers aren't good but you can see work underway to improve the bunkers. The course is challenging with wetlands and a few ponds you will need to avoid. It is a good idea to bring a few extra golf balls. We are older golfers so we play the white tees on most holes but move forward on a few holes to make them in range for us. Based on pace of play and value, if I could only play one course in this area Copper Hills would be my choice.
Interesting track, definitely can be a challenge. Pace of play was fantastic. I was disappointed with the course conditions. Fairways needed grooming, tee boxes were terrible with some missing tee markers, greens weren't in the best condition and needed repair/cutting. The sand bunkers were literally unplayable with a sign inside that read "bunkers under repair - take a free drop". There wasn't sand in the bunkers at all - completely washed away down to dirt and rock. Golf carts were pretty garbage - seats all torn up with some kind of black residue all over the leather. I normally don't care about this, I am there to golf, but it was very symbolic of the conditions of the overall facility. I hope Copper Hills can get back to focusing on taking care of their course. It is a great lay out with a ton of potential, but I will not be back to pay $50 for a course that's condition is on par with The Myth...
Always a fun test. Once they get the bunkers redone it will be beautiful once again. Still a cool course for this area with some great views. Know your yardages.
Great staff. You can always get out for a quick 9 and not have to wait for slow golfers because they have 3 different 9 so the choices are there. Tough course make sure you bring a lot of golf balls.
