  • It's ok. You walk about 1500 feet into the mine before you come to a blasted out side area you can sit. Takes about 10 minutes of walking on wet, muddy tracks to that location. The description of what the miners had to go through was fantastic and the guide showed us a bit of what they did. That was the best part. The mine itself was dark, and not easy to see while walking. I guess I expected just a bit more. But it's worth the visit. I heard from some other people there are better mines out there. We did some panning after (included with the tour) and did find some Fool's gold, a tiny amount of real gold (not worth anything) and some other small interesting rocks. A bit high priced for $15 per person.
  • My grandkids enjoyed so MUCH. Most of all they LOVED THE breakfast and panning for gold /silver outback. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour!!!
  • We've taken this tour multiple times. Very well done, safe and informative. Highly recommended.
  • Smaller mine tour but we'll worth it if you can't get over to Silverton to tour the old hundred. Been multiple times.
  • Exceeded my expectations! Stan, the mine's owner, gave us a great tour, providing interesting history about the mine, geology, and the early days of mining in Colorado. After the hour-long tour, Stan showed us how the early prospectors panned for gold. Our whole family had fun panning for gold, silver, and copper flecks -- an unexpectedly fun and therapeutic activity!
