  • I'm usually not one who is up for visiting monuments, but this is a "must see"! The music in the background, the river and trees, the trails...all were magnificent. Highly recommend a fall visit.
  • We love going here in the summer & fall. The views are spectacular! We enjoyed the displays & all the information about the logging that used to be done in the area. My favorite was the display of ite...  more »
  • While the actual monument itself isn't much more than a statue, the views over the lake (river?) are amazing! Be prepared to climb hundreds of stairs if you want to see everything.

  • Great place to take the family for a nice outdoor educational adventure! I’ve been here multiple times, it’s always fun. They parks department does a great job at maintaining and improving the park. There is a nice new stair case (a long ways down) that will take you to the river. Where you can see what the lumbermen used to stay on when on the river. Staff here is friendly and eager to tell you the history of the nation forest. Parking is close to the monument. The park has a lot of plaques that give you every little detail of a lumberman’s life, from his tools, to the dangers of the job. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend stopping here for some great photos and education.
  • This whole experience was not only beautiful, but educational and kind of mind blowing! I would definitely recommend, going and learning the history of the lumber men. You get to learn the very details of life back then while on your adventure. Everything is very well maintained. It's also a stunning drive to get to the park. The stairs are worth the climb, the overlooks/sights you get are gorgeous! Absolutely breathtaking in some spots. The nature and scenery is peaceful and enjoyable. A must-visit little treasure in Oscoda!
  • Spectacular views, nice historical features. A great place to visit if you have the chance. There are lots of stairs involved, but the walk is worth it!
  • This is one of my favorite places in the world! Yes "the world"! The view is awesome and it is the most peaceful place! Love the campground also!
  • Monument is nice, there are a few small museum-like attractions as well. Staff is very helpful and there is a lot of good literature about the area in the visitor center.
