Dana (who described herself as the "top of the food chain") was extremely rude. If you want to have a fun day playing golf, do not go to this place.
Avid golfers. My dad and I always scope out the best courses with the best rates, I live near Pinehurst, NC so my expectations are a little high. We paid $116 for 2 people. When told it was a weekend ... read more »
We played on a Friday with a reserved tee time of 928. It was 32.99 for 9 with a cart. The front which we played is really deceiving unless you played there before as you can't really use your driver ... read more »
The golf course plays nicely and quickly. The course seems maintained fairly well.
I was told to stay away from this place, however I had never played it before so I thought I'd give it a shot. Should of listened. Staff very unfriendly. Danna inparticular. Had rained 3" overnight and was still pouring when the group showed up for our tee time. The radar was showing it was going to clear shortly. Getting 13 people rounded up to go tee off in the pouring rain was not happening, however Danna pointed to me telling me to come over here and told us we had to get out there right away! Made some comments to others in the group as well. I run a golf course and this is not how you treat customers. If you want to be treated like a dog then this is the place for you. Promise this will be the first and last!
Called on a Saturday in July around 5pm to see if we could get 9 holes in. The guy that answered the phone acted like I was a complete goon for even asking. He said "we have one cart coming in...and then we're closed". Very rude. Website says hours are 7am-8pm, but not according to this guy. Sunset isn't until 8:45 in July.....so not sure why they would want to turn customers away. Very disappointing and will not ever visit this course now because of the staffs attitude.
The course is great for the value. Incredibly challenging with great elevation changes and plenty of water to play. One of the holes on the back nine actually brings a cove from the lake into play. Greens were pretty hard and quick, but not terrible. The staff is literally the worst I have ever experienced in my life. I have never felt so unwelcome at a course in my life. We had back to back tee times and played two person scrambles. The marshal followed us around for the entire front nine and told us to pick of the pace multiple times. We came into the turn 30 minutes ahead of pace. After buying food and drink from the clubhouse, we were sitting in our carts outside the clubhouse eating lunch and the course manager came out and very rudely told us we had to get back out because people were waiting on us. We had been at the turn for five minutes. And the pair behind us hadn't finished the front 9. We ended up finishing nearly 45 minutes ahead of the pace with the marshal following us the entire time. He never offered any "players assistance" and was very unfriendly. All of this on a Wednesday afternoon. Needless to say, no one in my group will be revisiting.
This can be a very difficult course to play. A lot of elevation changes, numerous lay-ups off the tee, Very narrow greens and landing areas on some holes where you have to play around the fish hatchery ponds on the one side and the road to the course on the other on the first three holes. It would be very helpful to have prior knowledge of this course or to have a yardage booklet which would also describe the holes. There are much nicer golf courses at the lake, but, you can't beat the price here. Just remember to bring lots of balls.
