Gatorland, Orlando

4.4
#1 of 68 in Outdoors in Orlando
A reptilian wonderland, Gatorland is a theme park and wildlife preserve founded in 1949. Spanning over 45 hectares (110 acres) and claiming status as the "alligator capital of the world," the park houses thousands of gators and crocodiles, many of them bought from trappers who usually catch these creatures for their meat and skin. Used as one of the settings for a 1984 movie about adventurer Indiana Jones, the park features a large breeding marsh with a wooden boardwalk and a three-story observation tower, allowing you to observe reptile shows from a safe distance. To learn how to wrangle crocodiles like a pro, join the park's "trainer for a day" program. • Loved going here. The park has quite a few things to do from Zip-lining to feeding the Gators, to even going on a back woods monster truck ride! There is plenty of educational spots throughout the park. The signs throughout the park are hilarious! The food is wonderful compared to most other parks and is priced way more reasonably which is a huge plus. There is even a "mini" water park for the kids(and adults) to cool off if your there in the height of the summer months so bring a towel. All in all a really nice park, well worth the money. I would definitely recommend!
  • Great place and a FL landmark! This place has been around forever and it had been that long since I last visited. It has expanded and improved if zip lining is your thing this is a great place to do it. The staff is amazing and willing to take the time to answer your questions in detail. I can't give this place a high enough rating. Pack up your car grab the kids and enjoy this place.
  • I had so much fun here with my family. Definitely appropriate for any age. Recommend the extra money for the train, gator feed and, picture. Clean, friendly staff (very funny shows) and well maintained. Some hands on interaction which was fun and appropriate. Not too big, just the right size actually. Easy to walk around and find everything. Definitely highly recommend, especially if you have only a half a day.
  • The place is just a hoot! I have come here every few years when in Florida and always enjoy myself. Consider this a roadside attraction not a theme park. It has the largest alligators that you will ever see along with other animals. A nice way to spend a few hours. Has a splash park for children to cool off.
  • Love this place. So much to see and do. Did the zip line and can safely say its well worth the money to do it. Kids were delighted to be able to feed the baby gators with fishing rods and as a family did the lunch time gator feeding. Something else to be able to get close to these massive beasts. Would go back tomorrow.
