Gatorland, Orlando

4.4
#1 of 49 in Outdoors in Orlando
A reptilian wonderland, Gatorland is a theme park and wildlife preserve founded in 1949. Spanning over 45 hectares (110 acres) and claiming status as the "alligator capital of the world," the park houses thousands of gators and crocodiles, many of them bought from trappers who usually catch these creatures for their meat and skin. Used as one of the settings for a 1984 movie about adventurer Indiana Jones, the park features a large breeding marsh with a wooden boardwalk and a three-story observation tower, allowing you to observe reptile shows from a safe distance. To learn how to wrangle crocodiles like a pro, join the park's "trainer for a day" program. • I didn't expect much the first time I visited with the family but we were pleasantly surprised. The park is nicely maintained and they have made several improvements and upgrades over the last few years. The shows are all great. I enjoy feeding the birds the most. Florida residents are only $13. Worth it for a days adventure.
  • It was nice. But for the price and size I wouldn't go more than once or buy an annual pass. We had a Florida resident discount. If you're not from Florida, majority of the tourist maps and magazines you can get for free at any tourist center and hotels brochure counters will have coupons for this place. The worker Christian was amazing at his job, he was very lively and fascinating. He was our favorite part of the day. He was really into his shows.
  • This place is amazing. I'm completely terrified of heights but decided to fight through it and book a reservation for zip lining. It was the most amazing experience and it all began with the staff. I believe their names were Melissa and Megan. There were others also but in my anxiousness I forgot their names. Anyway, they guided me through the process and truly made me comfortable. Because of them, I was able to walk through the anxiety and experience one of the most amazing adventures ever. Can't wait to come back next visit and do it all again.
  • Loved this place. Be sure to tell them if you are a Veteran or active duty because you get in free! The nice cashier noticed my Navy Federal Credit Union bank card and corrected the price. So nice of her to make the extra effort to make sure she honored the deal and my husband. The shows were very entertaining and there are beautiful walkways everywhere. Be sure to schedule several hours to see it all.
  • A MUST-SEE attraction!!! Purchased Orlando All Inclusive Go City pass. Was well worth the purchase price to gain access to this and several other venues. The experience was AWESOME! We could have spent more time at Gatorland just watching all the gator pools. I think we enjoyed it as much as our kids! I preferred Gatorland to Sea World!
