Gatorland, Orlando

4.4
#1 of 47 in Outdoors in Orlando
A reptilian wonderland, Gatorland is a theme park and wildlife preserve founded in 1949. Spanning over 45 hectares (110 acres) and claiming status as the "alligator capital of the world," the park houses thousands of gators and crocodiles, many of them bought from trappers who usually catch these creatures for their meat and skin. Used as one of the settings for a 1984 movie about adventurer Indiana Jones, the park features a large breeding marsh with a wooden boardwalk and a three-story observation tower, allowing you to observe reptile shows from a safe distance. To learn how to wrangle crocodiles like a pro, join the park's "trainer for a day" program. • Such a fun place!!! While visiting Orlando today we spontaneously checked out this family operated "theme park". The whole family (Girls- 7,5 & 2) thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The place was so clean (bathrooms too), every staff member was engaging and fun. Every exhibit was great and the shows super entertaining. Thank you for a really well spent Family Day.
  • Better then we expected. The entire family enjoyed it and it was surprisingly educational at the same time. Staff all great. My husband is a Veteran and letting them go free was fantastic and gave us respect for the owners knowing the respected the vets. only suggestion would be to make the water park area bigger. Family enjoyed and we will be back.
  • Lots of fun. Animals seem to be clean, happy and well fed. My favorite exhibit was the parakeet enclosure. For a dollar or two you get 2 sticks of bird seed. You stand and hold the sticks out and wait for the birds to land on you and start eating. An amazing experience! Highly recommend. Just watch where you're walking so as not to step on any of the birds.
  • Warning : There's gators at Gatorland! Had a really fun time here feeding birds and goats. I know that probably doesn't seem cool. But I it was awesome. Gator shows were cool too. And the staff gets into the live performance. Well run park. Best $3.00 I spent not in Tijuana was feeding those dam birds.
  • Food was pretty good. Didn't get to see some of the shows since most of them are happen around the same time. So if you want to see everything then an all day visit is recommended. Its still a great place to experience.
