Gatorland, Orlando

#1 of 56 in Tours in Orlando
A reptilian wonderland, Gatorland is a theme park and wildlife preserve founded in 1949. Spanning over 45 hectares (110 acres) and claiming status as the "alligator capital of the world," the park houses thousands of gators and crocodiles, many of them bought from trappers who usually catch these creatures for their meat and skin. Used as one of the settings for a 1984 movie about adventurer Indiana Jones, the park features a large breeding marsh with a wooden boardwalk and a three-story observation tower, allowing you to observe reptile shows from a safe distance. To learn how to wrangle crocodiles like a pro, join the park's "trainer for a day" program. • This was a wonderful way to see some of Florida's critters. The park is reasonably priced and free, yes free, parking! If you are looking for a family friendly, very clean park, check it out. Interest...  more »

  • Wide variety of entertainment. The kids enjoyed it. Probably the best part, and most unexpected was the bird house where you go in with the birds. Our kids loved it and we got fantastic pictures with the kids. Definitely buy the seed stick. Great place to spend a day while on vacation. Not exhausting like the big theme parks, but still worth the experience and can still fill a day.
  • Great place to see gators, obviously. Even after seeing wild gators after living in Florida for 32 years, these animals were still amazing. Plenty of birds, gator/animal shows. Restaurant with fair pricing (hint, don't eat lunch at typical lunch time to avoid long lines). Even had live music at the outdoor eating tables. Zip lines are there but I'm not a fan, so passed. Definitely would recommend and will take the family again.
  • Great adventure from the Disney parks. Gatorland has some huge alligators. The park is very clean and qell maintained. The price of admission is very reasonable. There are several shows around the entire park. The food and drinks were much lower in price than the big parks like Disney and Universal. They have a couple gift stores and a zip line over the gator lake. You can even feed the gators but under the supervision of the park rangers. My family and I enjoyed the walk through the undisturbed swamp and the train ride through the park was great. The aviary you can buy seed sticks and go into the cage and the birds will land on your shoulder or head or hand and eat the seeds, very interactive. Giant turtles, panthers and albino gators which look like white chocolate statues. There is even a water park for the little kids to enjoy.
  • Gatorland is an amazing Park very affordable. Plan to spend at least 4 hours taking the shows and the exhibits. Be sure to do their Cypress walk. Visiting in the spring is the best time due to the cooler weather and you also get to see the bird Marsh where thousands of birds make their nests. The staff is friendly and helpful and it's very educational. They also have a really large gift shop that is Affordable price.
  • Amazing Birthday party at Gatorland! I guess they have birthday packages. Anyways, Oscar the alligator Wrangler gave us the 2+ hour tour which he was amazing. Oscar did a great job, loved interacting with the kids and making sure kids had a good time. Above and beyond. Behind the scenes holding animals. Had a great time. Definitely will have another party again there, and I will be v asking for Oscar.
