  • I was looking for a new place to visit and hike. Castle Rock State Park was a pleasant surprise. I had stayed at the Paddle Wheel a few years ago with a friend and didn't have time to visit. With all ...  more »
  • Used the boat launch to access Rock river. Easily accessible and beautiful area. Looking forward to bringing the kayak out next visit!  more »

  • Scenic overlook over the river was beautiful, with a lovely picnic spot. Hiking trails through the park were strenuous enough to be good exercise, but not difficult or exhausting. Scenery was pretty and park was very well kept and not overrun with people. I'm looking forward to visiting again in other seasons. Cross-country skiing would be fabulous in this park if there were at least 4 solid inches of base snow.
  • Always love the view over the river here. About guaranteed you will see eagles soaring above you. Nice picnic area by the river too. Little bit of a hike up the steps to the viewing area, but it's well worth it. Good place to take a couple's picture.
  • This is the laymen's park and trails. No need for special clothing or gear to enjoy it. The entire park is very clean with plenty of trash cans and restrooms throughout. The trails are light but the maps and wayfinding are not very good. You may need to plan for extra time when hiking in case you get a bit lost. This park is great for a quick getaway!
  • Overrated location. Very hard to various events like the trails and the stairs with the rocks and overview. Trails are very short and rocky. No castle. Reccomend to go to Lowden Miller forest because it has much longer and interesting trails.
  • Only went down to the beach, but was a nice place to have a picnic and watch the canoeing and kayaks.
