The Oregon City Municipal Elevator is a 130-foot (40 m) elevator which connects two neighborhoods in Oregon City in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is the only outdoor municipal elevator in the U.S. and one of at least 8 in the world. The upper portion contains an observation deck which accounts for its flying saucer appearance.

There have been two elevators at this location. The current elevator was built in 1954–55, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

  • Love the changing pictures in the waiting area on top. Attendant in the elevator is always friendly. Very convenient parking on the streets around the elevator. Makes easy access to the events...

  • Walked Promenade. Beautiful Willamette Falls View and downtown Oregon City Views. Fun history information posted in elevator. Elevator has an attendant that can offer ideas for points of interest.

  • Very interesting place, I never expect elevator in city of Oregon. I come here for Willamette falls, the old Indian tribe’s fishing ground. There is an elevator attendant to take you up and down, walking along upper trail you can see the old Oregon city. Beautiful city view from elevator.
  • A quirky and interesting local attraction. There is a trail the follows the edge of a cliff to the South West from the top of the elevator. There are fantastic views of the river and the "industrial ruins" of the old paper factory
  • I'm not sure what one would expect from a municipal elevator ( never heard of one till a little while ago) but it is cool and in working order. The attendant was friendly and gave our kids some elevator pennants as souvenirs. An alternative to the nice and gentle stair case if stairs aren't for you. Viewing deck is neat and has lots of local history.
  • It's free parking up top but metered parking at the bottom. It's a good way to get to downtown Oregon City and there are some great views of the river near the top. There are also some historical photos inside the elevator area.
  • Interesting experience. The guy manning the elevator was professional and personable. Lots of history inside this building. For someone who hates elevators, this was a unique experience and the kids loved it.
