  • Make sure you have good walking shoes and an entire day to devote here. It was a great experience. The animals are housed well. Even the food was good.
  • I was horrified while watch the elephants, when the zoo train went by clanging, chugging, and blowing its whistle and billowing black smoke. The animals were frightened and ran back and forth in the e...  more »
  • The visit is worth the price. make sure to free up a whole day for this place. my favorite thing was the penguins, I could have stayed watching them the whole day there.

  • We had a nice time but ultimately left disappointed due to a large portion of the exhibits being temporarily closed or the animals not in their habitats. (per posted signs) The food prices are outrageous as well. For instance; two burgers, one hot dog, three orders of fries, two medium drinks, and a bottled water, which is what it would take to feed three people, will cost you around $40. Two medium drinks, one bottle of water, and two ice cream cones run $20. This is all in addition to the gate fees, train fees, sky ferry fees, etc. (unless you buy a day pass, which can run up to over $100 for 3 people depending on which one you get) But, again, we did enjoy ourselves for the most part. I just couldn't give this place more than 3 stars.
  • Being local, it's easy to be biased about this zoo; but it is simply the best. We've had an annual membership long before having children, and even if we only make it there once or twice a year, we never feel it's a "waste" as we know the money is going to good use. The additions made over the years are simply amazing. The new African Grasslands area is stunning, and I'm excited to see it all once it's fully completed. I'm also excited to see what the next few years will bring to the zoo.
  • I have been going here since before I was born. I love seeing this place evolve and continue to grow. I know so many folks who work here and they really make the zoo stand on it's own besides donors and animals. IMAX is my favorite place to visit. It's a must-see. Every show is informative and entertaining and I can't get enough!
  • Once you get inside, it is easy to tell why the zoo's admission is high. It is difficult to do it justice in one day. From the many buildings, the expansive grounds, the various rides, and even the daily enrichments planned, there is always something to do or see. It's easy to tell why it is rated as the #1 zoo in the country. I'd plan a couple days just to fit it all in!
  • Best zoo I've ever been to! This is a definite must see for any one close and it beats the pants out of the STL zoo. We went on a rainy, cold, nasty day and some of the animals were in shelter, but we still didn't get to see the whole park because there WAS SO MUCH TO SEE!! The crazy part is that they are adding more attractions for 2017, so it is definitely best to give yourself two days to see it all! Amenities were phenomenal and everything was kept very clean. Love that all of the bathrooms were clean and there are diaper changing facilities in the Men's bathrooms as well. People are complaining that the food/drinks are pricy, BUT THEY ALLOW YOU TO BRING FOOD INTO THE PARK! Just as long as you don't bring glass or alcohol in, leave litter, or eat in the exhibits area, you can bring your own lunch/drinks to keep food prices down. My only criticism is that it would be nice if they had a digital board at the entrance to let patrons know which sections are under construction or closed for the day, but even then there was so much there that we will be coming back!
