  • I LIVED in Seattle twice and hadn't heard of this place before we took our vacation this year! Absolutely breathtaking from the bottom to amazing panoramic views at the top!! It WAS foggy along the drive, but we were able to see the Olympic mountains once we got there. The drive itself has to be taken in and savored. Beautiful waterfalls, trees and wildflowers everywhere.. deer that look up at you. Gorgeous views of the mountains can be seen through the trees, especially if you're not the driver. The visitors center is lovely, the staff were all very friendly and kind as well. I didn't dress appropriately for the awful COLD, but I was able to purchase a wonderfully warm zip up hoodie there! My two boys, myself and my Aunt all bought quality goods and we have something to remind us our visit. I highly recommend going if you're ever in the area.
  • The drive up is gorgeous if you go on a clear day. The hike is nice and if you do the long one you get to see some beauty you won't soon forget. We can't wait to do this hike again!
  • Great place for a great view. Be sure to check at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center for road conditions and operating hours of Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center. The actual Center and concession store was closed on my visit. It was raining and the wind was extreme (Hurricane Ridge ..get it?) There is a sheltered viewing area that overlooks the valley andis a good refuge when raining.
  • Definitely some amazing views from here as well as a lot of great information and some cool little hikes. Even the drive up and down the ridge is amazing. Worth the trip, especially if you are in the area.
  • for a bit of "alone time" cruise down the obstruction point road from the visitor center. a little daunting at first, don't be scared. keep going it lets up a bit after a .5 mile or so.

Where to stay in Olympic National Park

Many visitors to Olympic National Park choose to pitch a tent at one of 16 campgrounds, many of which stay open throughout the year. The park also offers a mix of lodge rooms, motel rooms, and cabins thanks to two lodges and two resorts. On the Pacific Coast, the Kalaloch Lodge stands as the most isolated of these. If you prefer to rest your head outside the park, consider staying in Port Townsend. This artsy waterside community northeast of the park offers plenty of inns and bed and breakfasts, but they fill up quickly in summer, so reserve ahead if possible. Port Angeles sits a bit closer to the park and offers more functional accommodations in the form of motels and hotels, though you'll also find waterfront inns and cottages in the area. Communities on the park's western side offer a rustic vibe, but they also take more time to get to if you're coming from Seattle.
