  • We did the walk up to Hurricane Hill. The first part is pretty flat and then the "fun" begins. Although it was a good workout for us, we felt it was worth the walk to the hill. We saw lots of deer and...  more »

  • Breathtaking view of the cascades. Sunrise is beautiful from there if you take a small trail from this point. Lots of deer. Plenty of parking. Amenities were good and very clean. You can see the awesome glaciers which used to be huge but now melted away. Road conditions are good during the summer time. If you have time, drive to the obstruction point which has some breath taking views.
  • The drive up this visitor center is a must do on a pretty day. The views are amazing all the way up to the top of the ridge, but once you reach the visitors center, the views of the entire Olympic mountain range are breath taking. You feel like a scene from Sound of Music. There is a beautiful meadow between the visitors center and the mountain peaks with deer and marmots roaming everywhere. In mid June, there was still some snow around on the higher trails but lots of green grass in the lower areas. There was some construction on the road that delayed us about 20 minutes but he view is well worth the drive up. The visitors center is nice also with a large gift shop, small restaurant, and rangers to answer any questions about the park.
  • Loved this place. We've been to quite a few national park visitor centers doing the various junior ranger programs. What struck me was when we walked in there were tables to sit at which made working on the program with the kids easy. There was also a cafe. The rangers were very friendly and helpful. We had a great hour hike learning about the various flowers that can be found in the park.
  • Wonderful views! Informative Ranger, stationed inside. Hands on learning center and a movie, playing in a darkened room with bench seating. Cafeteria and gift shop downstairs. Indoor and outdoor seating. Handicap parking and restroom access. Deer, marmot and Chipmunks can be seen on the grassy areas and even the walk ways. Most are use to humans so they don't run from you. Great photo ops!
  • Awesome views and nice food! Although it required a 30 minute wait due to a full parking lot, the trip was well worth it. Plenty of room to walk around and enjoy the view of the Olympic Mountains right next to the Visitor Center. Several ranger guided tours were announced while we enjoyed our lunch. Oh yes, there was actually pretty good food there which pleasantly surprised us! Be patient if there is a wait on the way - you would not be disappointed! And you may see some wild life right by the road (like the family of deers we saw)
