Clam shacks and shops on Old Orchard Beach Pier lead to a nightclub perched over the water. The original pier was an iconic structure that stretched 540 m (1,770 ft). Today the entertainment pier extends 150 m (500 ft) over the Atlantic Ocean. The wooden structures along the pier serve funnel cakes, hot dogs, popcorn, and hamburgers to visitors strolling the boardwalk.
