  • We visited during the Fall festival.. Many vendors and food trucks were there... It was a fun trip! Loved the apple fritters!
  • A lot if history here and we really enjoyed it. Its not very large but there is alot of good information and displays. The kids loved the cabin and outdoor stage.
  • Yes, this isn't the Louvre; it's a small town museum, but we loved it! My husband's ancestors are from this place and my granddaughter and I had a wonderful time there. Peggy Silvers isn't just a doce...  more »

  • Real history with friendly knowledgeable folk. This site takes you back to the times they share. On Sundays folks show up to play mountain music. Love this place!
  • Great place to learn some history, needs more about the town itself and less about the county, it is in old fort,
  • Not to bad for a free museum. Nice place to take a short break.
  • Part of the NC Museum network it has a real log home inside to show you how small homes were years ago. Also you can find a real still (of course not working) setup and a lot of local history. Part of their train exhibit is over in the old train station so make sure to go there too just a block away. The setting along the creek with two real log cabins on the campus.
  • Great place to take photos and walk the dog
