Ohiopyle State Park, Ohiopyle

#1 of 7 in Things to do in Ohiopyle
Bike, hike, or whitewater raft along the Youghiogheny River Gorge at Ohiopyle State Park. This park, which opened in 1965, features 23 km (14 mi) of the Youghiogheny River and boasts some of the best rafting in the eastern United States. Different parts of the park offer level I and II rapids, while another section affords the more difficult level III and IV rapids. Take in stunning views of the park's many waterfalls, including the 6.1 m (20 ft) Ohiopyle Falls, as you raft. Another favorite is the park's natural Meadow Run Waterslides, which have been carved out by nature and function like a waterpark waterslide in a natural setting, only a bit rougher. You can also canoe, kayak, horseback ride, and even cross-country ski through this 19,052 hectare (7,710 acre) park with over 160 km (100 mi) of trails. • It's one of the best places to hike during any season! There are so many trails for hiking! The views are beautiful, the falls are amazing and someday I'll go rafting again....did I mention that they have Class 3, 4 and 5 rapids?! You can rents bikes and kayaks. And there are some really great eats and ice cream and beer along Main Street. They have summer festivals and it's super close to Falling Water and Kentuck Knob.
  • Honestly the best camping/hiking/biking/fishing/rafting/exploring State Park that I have ever visited. Highly recommend spending the night and devoting an entire weekend because there are so many things to do here. Great scenic views. Laurel Caverns, Kentuck Knob, and Fort Necessity are a short drive away. I've been here 6-7 weekends and I'm still finding new things to do. Wish I could give it more that 5 stars.
  • Beautiful park. The waterfall, alone, makes this park worth a visit. A nice easy drive from Pittsburgh, PA this is a must visit. Great fun during the summer when the more adventurous can ride the river through the tube. The scrapes and bruises are well worth it. A great place for a hike.
  • Had one of the best times here. Amazing place for nature lovers or even photographers. Love the falls and the stream through out. Went during autumn and got to see the best of autumn colors of USA.
  • One of my favorite places to visit! I've been twice. The first time was the town's festival. There were so many vendors from all over. It was fun meeting new people. The park is beautiful and there's tons of places to hike and bike! The main trail can be traveled to other cities. The park might not be for people scared of bridges/heights. Most of the trails near the water are connected by bridges high off of the ground. The town is nice and quaint. I LOVE getting jarred goods from there (the jalape├▒o raspberry jam is worth the drive). There's good food and a couple activities (bike rental, mini golf, etc) in the town as well.
