State Park
Bike, hike, or whitewater raft along the Youghiogheny River Gorge at Ohiopyle State Park. This park, which opened in 1965, features 23 km (14 mi) of the Youghiogheny River and boasts some of the best rafting in the eastern United States. Different parts of the park offer level I and II rapids, while another section affords the more difficult level III and IV rapids. Take in stunning views of the park's many waterfalls, including the 6.1 m (20 ft) Ohiopyle Falls, as you raft. Another favorite is the park's natural Meadow Run Waterslides, which have been carved out by nature and function like a waterpark waterslide in a natural setting, only a bit rougher. You can also canoe, kayak, horseback ride, and even cross-country ski through this 19,052 hectare (7,710 acre) park with over 160 km (100 mi) of trails. • The scenery is beautiful and there is a lot to do. It is a very popular place but is also quiet and relaxing. It's a good place to go to get away from things.
  • The park area is very well maintained. There are lots of activities to participate such as rafting, kayaking, biking, zip-lining and so on. The natural water slide was an absolute fun for me. I would to visit this place again some time.
  • The most beautiful place on the planet, in my book. But, I'm a native Southwestern Pennsylvanian, so I'm a little bit biased. If you come by to see the beauty, yourself, please remember to respect the natural environment and dispose of trash properly... also don't wear flip-flops or you'll get hurt. Water-shoes are best for getting the most out of the natural wonders in Ohiopyle State Park.
  • Beautiful place to see. Make sure you check out cucumber falls, the overlook and the natural water slide. There's a lot more to see in the area.
  • Went there before kids and white watered down the rapids. Went there today with my kids 4 and 5 and my significant other. Had a blast we walked around the park over both bridges and then after the 2nd bridge we went left down that trail. Near the end of the trail is a metal bridge that goes over the waterfall area. At that point we walked out of the parking lot and went left down the road and another left down that road to the park station. Ate hotdogs ice cream had a beer and a fresh sandwich with cookies. Overalls the kids are sleeping in the car while i wait to put gas in. Was it worthwhile? Yes
