I was so looking forward to our round at Ocean Ridge Plantation and so much so that we were planning on 36 holes via Tigers Eye and Leopards Chase. Well Hurricane Matthew changed those plans so we onl... read more »
My wife and I moved into Ocean Ridge Plantation this summer and love everything about living here except the golf courses. There are four courses all named after Big Cats. On Tiger's Eye the greens an... read more »
Nicely maintained courses; friendly staff; quality snack/beverage options at the turn. Three course package was well worth the price.
Oh, the beautiful pictures on the website... How misleading can they be! To begin, NONE OF THE COURSES ARE WORTH THE DRIVE FROM MYRTLE BEACH! Tiger's Eye is nice, fun, and fair. That is the only good thing going for the Big Cat courses. Leopard's Chase is new, boring, and overrated (thin lies, eroded rough, slow greens). Panther's Run is your local $20 course. The course is in poor shape, short, boring, and very underwhelming. Lion's Paw is a senior's paradise. Be prepared to wait on every hole, and the condition are very similar to Panther's Run. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE BEAUTIFUL WEBSITE, YOU DO NOT GET WHAT YOU SEE!!! The waterfall on the signature #18 hole at Leopard's Chase doesn't even run, come on.
The courses are pretty good and the rates are reasonable. However, the courses are fully staffed with retired, abrasive Northerners that lack very basic customer service skills. The starters, cart guys, rangers etc are extremely condescending, patronizing and generally get in the way while your trying to have fun. I've had unpleasant experiences on 3 of 4 visits with such employees.
The old Georgetown entrance was to be completed in 2013 as we were told by the developer. Never happened. It is now a tacky gate that reads "road closed" and several plastic placards that read "private property". In addition many amenities have never been completed like the clubhouse at Leopards Chase and swimming pool, kayak launch......
Golf staff horrible....Man behind counter at Lions paw shop during the week, was the rudest I've ever dealt with. Too many options to wast my time here ever again. Go to oyster bay or sea trail, or rivers edge, or sandpiper bay, or the pearl, or farmstead. ...get the point?
Nice place to live!
