Silver Oak Cellars is a family-owned, California winery dedicated to producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak was established in 1972 by Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer. It is currently operated by Ray's sons David Duncan, who serves as the President and CEO, and his brother, Tim Duncan, who serves as Executive Vice President. Silver Oak has two wineries; one in Oakville in the Napa Valley and one in Geyserville in the Alexander Valley. The Duncan Family also established Twomey Cellars in 1999, named after Ray Duncan’s mother, where they produce Pinot noir, Merlot and Sauvignon blanc. Twomey has wineries in Calistoga and Healdsburg. In 2007, the ColoradoBiz cited Silver Oak as one of a dozen California wineries which "have reached cult status" for its Cabernet Sauvignon production and occupies an "important niche in California's wine industry."HistorySilver Oak was the vision of Justin Meyer. Entrepreneur and oil tycoon, Ray Duncan had purchased Franciscan Vineyards and approached Justin Meyer, whom he’d met through mutual friends, and asked him to plant and manage his vineyards and winery. Then working at Christian Brothers, Justin agreed, and started Silver Oak on the side. Ray invested in Meyer and Silver Oak was established in 1972. Named after its location between Oakville and the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, Justin and Ray’s vision for Silver Oak was to devote all their resources to producing a single wine and Justin's favorite focus - Cabernet Sauvignon. Justin's vision was to perfect and make a wine that was 100% Cabernet, no blending.

  • Love silver oak wine! The grounds are pretty but the tasting room is just kind of bla. However the wines are that good and I stop here every year I visit!
  • Lovely vineyard specialising only in red wine and good wine it is. The grounds are immaculate and a very pretty setting. I would put this on your must visit is you are a red drinker.
  • We went to 8 wineries over 2 days and of course, this was the best. The tasting was only $25, the pours were generous and the reserve cab's were excellent. Allan helped us and was great. He talked wit...  read more »
  • My wife and I took their main tour and had an incredible time. Our host made the tour both fun and interesting and always made it a point to refill your glass before it was empty. The grounds are beautiful and the building has an interesting history. They only produce one style but they definitely do it well. Bottles are pricey but the tour is reasonably priced for how much you experience and drink!
  • Great wine. Didn't have a great experience with the staff. They were ok but not that friendly.
  • This is a winery I wish I'd skipped. The service was good enough, but given the size of the tasting room and the crowd, the people working the tasting bar were not able to focus much on our group. We paid $25 (typical Napa tasting inflation) for 3 pours of cab. While all they make is cab, one of the three would we have started to think about purchasing. Although these wines may lay down quite nicely, I don't want to have to wait 20 years for a bottle to mature for actual drinking. All of the wine we drank — including the library one — was still too young, dry and tannic. Better wine elsewhere.
  • Really enjoyed this tasting room. They only make Cabs but they do a darn good job at it.
  • Crap. This place was great. Sprung for the private tasting. While pricey was totally worth it. Tastings a plenty of great wines, beautiful grounds, great service - this place was totally memorable and tons of fun. Recommend calling ahead and making an appointment.
