#11 of 13 in Wineries in Oakville
PlumpJack Winery is a boutique winery in Oakville, California specializing in premium Cabernet Sauvignon wines. PlumpJack was the first winery in Napa Valley to use screwcaps as a wine closure on fine wines. The winery is one of several businesses operated by the PlumpJack Group. The name of the company is inspired by "the roguish spirit of Shakespeare's Sir John Falstaff, dubbed Plump Jack by Queen Elizabeth."HistoryThe PlumpJack Group was founded in 1992 by Gavin Newsom, a San Francisco entrepreneur who was elected that city's mayor in 2003, and Gordon Getty, a San Francisco composer and philanthropist, when they opened a wine store called PlumpJack Wines in the Fillmore neighborhood of San Francisco. Over the next five years, the business expanded to include a boutique hotel and three restaurants. PlumpJack Winery was founded in 1997 when the PlumpJack Group acquired a century-old 53acre vineyard in Napa Valley on Oakville Cross Road. The winery facility and tasting room were designed by Leavitt-Weaver, the same design firm that the PlumpJack Group used for the designs of its restaurants and hotels.

  • Beautiful scenery. Excellent wine. Makes for a good time.
  • This winery has both beautiful wines and amazing spaces to hang out. Tom will help you enjoy all that Plumpjack has to offer. We highly recommend this as a romantic destination. Make sure to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch swing.
  • Great wine, beautiful property and great customer service. I will definitely be back
  • $200 a Bottle for what we wanted. $40 tasting and I work with a Vineyard in NC.nice people but won't be back.
  • Cute winery and good wine - pricey. Average experience - staff was inattentive and had to ask to refill tasting glasses.
