Great place to walk around and enjoy the breeze. Lots of good shops, but I primarily come here for the farmer's market on weekends. It's always nice and cool, so it's a good retreat on hot days
Cute spot that somehow straddles touristy without being blech-avoid-at-all-costs-touristy (i.e. Fisherman's Wharf). They have cute local events like movies, dancing, and concerts outdoors. A pretty wide selection of restaurants (most not great, some pretty good - Bocanova) and entertainment from Plank (like an adult Dave & Busters), Haven (divey historic bar), and the monthly flea market and weekly farmer's market (Sundays). Wednesdays it's great if you walk further south along the water, and you can catch the local sailing clubs racing near sunset.
I've never been to Jack London Square before and I've lived in the Bay Area most of my life. So I thought that I should finally check it out. When I showed up with my girl we saw that there was a farmers market going on. Lots of yummy foods and love music. Besides the farmers market I noticed they offer a wide array of choices when it comes to the types of restaurants. From upscale sea food, to burger joints. We ended up going to a fun place called Planks. They also have lots of little shops and nice views of the bay. After spending a good portion of my day her today, I definitely want to come back and try some other restaurants.

The square had a nice farmers market on Sunday mornings. Just don't go there at 8am! They won't open until about 9. Lots of good restaurants in the square too.
A decent place to launch kayaks or trailered boats into thr Oakland Estuary. A low board dock, a ramp, port-a-potties complete the services. The parking lot can be dirty with broken glass and trash. Occasionally I have encountered aggressive panhandlers. Make sure to hide your stuff and lock your doors!
