  • Good food, nice location, friendly people, brewed beer. Would come again. Very crowedy on Saturday but got a beer at bar and talking to other visitors was very nice.
  • Just finished eating at Southgate - had El Capitan pizza and fish tacos. Food was excellent but service very lacking. Our server did not check back with us even once before bringing our check. Too bad...  read more »
  • Were there, since at TripAdvisor ranked 1 and the right to be! Allowed to take a seat at the counter. Through the Bank, great service and good food. The Deadwood Porter had BBQ Burger and the Porter pulled pork sandwich (see pictures), to a wide selection of local beers. Clear recommendation!

  • Had decent brews and great music playing. The grilled fish tacos were bland, but the sweet potato fries were tasty. Overall a pretty good place to stop for a snack and a drink.
  • Came here after a long days hike at Yosemite and we were hungry. There was a group of 3 of us and we had to wait for about 40 min before getting seated. We had no side preference so the table we got was on the more casual side of the restaurant. I'm assuming the other side is a little more fine dining. One thing to point out is that the hostess explained to us that this side was more casual dining and we order at the bar and the food would be brought to us. Basically implying minimal service. As I will explain later, minimal service does not mean no service. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts, Southgate Wings (boneless), 2 pizzas (margherita and The Mountaineer ), and Deadwood Porter BBQ burger, root beer, and Paulaner Hefe-Weizen. Overall, I thought the appetizers were better than the main course. The bbq sauce on the boneless wings (white meat) was nicely glazed and not overly done/burnt. It wasn't dry at all. Tasted like a chicken mcnugget. Boneless white meat chicken wing is basically all the left over meat made into a "nugget", just like hot dogs =P I thought the artichoke hearts was overly fried but with the dipping sauce, it really tasted good. I ordered my burger medium rare and it came out to be medium to medium well. The fried onions were over done. Other than that, the burger was tasty but did not meet the standards of a $15 burger in NYC. The pizzas were just alright. The crust was actually undercooked, still too soft. The service was lack luster to non-existent. As they brought our food out, we asked for additional plates, it never came. I was quite perplexed. The root beer was good but unbalanced. Too much sarsaparilla. It felt like you were drinking black licorice. The Hefe-Weizen was great! Can't mess up German beer that comes bottled =P Overall, probably one of the better restaurants given the remote location. I would come here again not because the food was excellent, but because there is probably nothing better in the surrounding area.
  • I like this place! Good food! The wings are great, there's a good amount of sweet potato fries on a serving, my appetite is solved! The only thing is it needs more room to accommodate more people!
  • Service A+ Food A+ Beer A+ Setting A+ Too bad it is in Oalhurst and I live in Aus so won't be able to come back here more often!
  • Service, beer and food were all excellent. The service was very friendly, they are all hard workers and it shows. From the side salad to the Yosemite salad and everything in between, everything was great. The homemade chips are superb. The beer complimented the food. If Sabrina recommends it, get it! Highly recommend!
